Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Saw Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid on tv one night, and Sneakers the next. Wow, that's a contrast.

For me the gap in movies wasn't so wide - I saw him in 3 Days of the Condor, and then in Sneakers - when it came out. But that gap there was a massive transformation.

Dungeons and Dragons isn't a religion. It isn't even remotely like a religion, and doesn't pretend to be a religion.

what about LARPing dungeons and dragons. Lets be real, the neopagans aren't burning virgins in wickermen, and their stuff was made up 50 years ago for your standard variety, 150 years ago if they are the super-racist variety.

I can't tell the difference between LARPing Tyr and LARPing.... well... Tyr.

Neither can I.
(and I've been a Neopagan over a decade and never LARPed, nor do I have any desire to).

As far as tabletop games, my friends and I played Battletech, which they made a good effort to turn into a cartoon a few years ago.

Yep. Whats the difference between your services, a quivering mass of skyclad 50-somethings throwing an awkward orgy in the woods, and LARPing?

To start,
I'm only 35, I dress in modern, semi formal attire, there are no orgies, and most of the rituals are done indoors quietly in private.

well expand! I'm a expansive mood. I have no idea what variant of neopagan you are. Do you think you have magick powers, do you pretend to historical contuinity, or are you a racialist?

The fancy category would be a modern, westernized eclectic witch.
Modern indicates I'm not recreating any ancient tradition, which answers the third question.
Westernized distinguishes me from traditions like Santeria or tribal folk magic.
Eclectic means I don't subscribe to a particular, more dogmatic tradition like Gardnerian Wicca.

Neopagan is easier to remember and faster to type, though.

No I don't think I have magical powers. I tend to be extremely skeptical about things like ESP.

The really short version:
Hard polytheist (multiple deities with distinct personality).
No omniscience or omnipresence.
Abiogenesis and atheistic evolution.
Afterlife: maybe, maybe not; there's not much focus on it.
Umm...not sure what else unless you have specific questions

sure open a thread for it. I'm feelling rather expansive.

I'm not terribly abrasive right now but that will be different in a day or two. I'm sure you've explained your unique brand of nonsense a thousand times before, so if you just link the relevant threads that will do as well.

The rules forbid me from starting a thread to explain my own faith. You have to ask.

I'm not worried. Show me what you got.

I think you can find some of my "nonsense" in the the thread here. There were 2-3 other threads recently that I went into some details but I don't recall which ones. Try using the search feature and specify "awitch" as the user.

What, specifically, is wrong with 50-somethings holding an awkward orgy in the woods, skyclad or otherwise?

Some LARP groups have rules prohibiting orgies, while others don't address such a thing one way or another past adhering to local relevant ordinances.

I can't tell the difference between LARPing Tyr and LARPing.... well... Tyr.

Can you tell the difference between a Hollywood movie set where actors are acting out a wedding, and... well... a real wedding? Or is there no difference to you?
