Does anyone else have the problem that they can't read certain verses from the Bible without hearing "The Messiah" in their head? Just to quote one example from a Bible study this evening:

Isaiah 9:6 (KJV)

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

I simply cannot read it without falling into Handel's rhythm and hearing a massed choir singing.

LOL! I soooo hear you! When I was in college, I sang in the concert choir and one Christmas we performed Handel's Messiah. Thereafter everytime I read scripture that Handel used for this piece, I end up singing it in my head! :D I tell ya, it's a great way to memorize scripture! :)

Can't say that I do, although I do sometimes get cheesy '70's choruses running through my head when I read the Psalms and sometimes I get better songs based on the Psalms come to mind, which can enhance the reading.

David Winter wrote an Advent series based on the Messiah in book form (i.e. not part of a pamphlet of Bible reading notes). It's probably still available from BRF if anyone is interested. I didn't find it particularly helpful as I'm not a great fan of the Messiah:blush: and the book wasn't evangelical enough for me at the time   .

Another one could be Isaiah 40:4 -- Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain: (KJV)
