I had a hamster named Molly when I first moved into my apartment (I REALLY wanted a pet!) and I loved her!! She was so cute; and fun to watch... but she got really good at escaping her cage (I bought her 2 new ones over a years time, hoping she couldn't escape the newer one... but wrong... poor Molly kept getting out! And one day after I found her she was never the same; I think she ate something :( She died about a week later...

I wanted to get another one; but my (then boyfriend) fiance bought me a kitten and so I can't get another one! (Although once we get married and have a house I can buy a hamster and lock it up in a room the cat's not allowed in!!

Hamsters are so fun to watch!! Especially if you get the right cage!

I have a Campbells Dwarf hamster, and a black Syrian hamster (commonly called "black bear"). I've got two cats and a bird also...I have a whole food chain going on lol.

My hamsters have done that "slow bite" thing before. I think when my hammies do it to me, I've always JUST gotten done eating, and they can't see very good...all they smell is food. My dwarf hamster always licks my hand though...especially right after I wash them. I don't know what his problem is. I think he's just being a hamster.

I've had three different hamsters over the years. Thumper, Speedy and Amos. Hamsters rule!

I've been talked into getting a hamster by a 9 year old con artist :)
She starts by bringing hamster books home from the library. It didn't stop there though...oh no! She's been talking about hamsters and how cute they are...constantly!

Of course she mentioned that having a hamster would teach her responsibility, and that she would take care of it and 'isn't it better that someone like me gives the hamster a good life?"

This was over a two week period.

Today we went hamster cage shopping, it took all day to find the right one. (I used to raise gerbils and hamsters)
So the cage, wheel, food, litter, water bottle and little hamster house is here and tomorrow we choose our new hamster. If it's a boy his name will be Elvis, if it's a girl it's name will be Ginger.
(Oh yeah, she already had the names picked out. She said it came to her in a dream..)

Elvis?
:D
