A Statement by The Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem

Church Unites in Prayer, Firmly Condemns Massacre at Hospital, and Grieves the Loss of Hundreds of Innocent Civilians

In a solemn observance of a global day of fasting and prayers for peace, reconciliation, and an end to the harrowing conflict, Christians stood united in the Holy Land. However, this day of reflection was marred by a brutal attack on our Al Ahli Anglican Episcopal Hospital in Gaza during the Israeli airstrikes there. Citing 2 Cor. 4:8-9a, “We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed,” we reflect on the unwavering spirit in the face of adversity.

In the strongest terms, the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem condemns this atrocious attack that has transpired in the heart of Gaza. Initial reports suggest the loss of countless lives, a manifestation of what can only be described as a crime against humanity. Hospitals, by the tenets of international humanitarian law, are sanctuaries, yet this assault has transgressed those sacred boundaries. We heed the call of Archbishop Justin Welby, who implored for the safeguarding of medical facilities and the rescission of evacuation orders. Regrettably, Gaza remains bereft of safe havens.

The devastation witnessed, coupled with the sacrilegious targeting of the church, strikes at the very core of human decency. We assert unequivocally that this is deserving international condemnation and retribution. An urgent appeal resonates for the international community to fulfil its duty in protecting civilians and ensuring that such inhumane horrific acts are not replicated.

As we grieve the loss of countless souls who perished on our premises, we declare a day of mourning in all our churches and institutions. We beseech our friends, partners, and individuals of goodwill to stand in solidarity, mourning with us the heinous assault on our dedicated staff and vulnerable patients.

Israel released footage of a rocket launched by Hamas malfunctioning mid air and going down at the time the hospital was hit. They also say they have drone footage that they will release soon

Do you have a link to the video?

If it was a Hamas rocket, why haven't they ever used one as powerful as the one that hit the hospital against Israel?

Now Israel is claiming they have a recording of a conversation of Islamic Jihad discussing that the missile they launched struck the hospital

In Genesis 6:11 we read:

“Now the earth was corrupt before God, and the earth became full of violence.”

In the Hebrew, it reads:

ותמלא הארץ חמס
And the earth was filled with חמס (hamas).

Let that sink in.

I think far too many people ignore this. This conflict has been going on for a long time and the Palestinians have staunchly refused every opportunity to work something out. Then they proceed to attack Israel then blame Israel when Israel responds to the attacks.

We have an aweful lot of people who don't think things through. One they claim Israel should be talking instead. Ignoring the facts that not only has Israel tried to talk, but so have others, but it's always to no avail.

They they get upset when Israel responds militarily to military strikes from Palestinians.

Then they get upset when Israel tries to target Hamas directly but Hamas is hiding behind civilian shields making it all but impossible to do a surgical strike. I don't know if they think the Israelis have some sort of magic bullet than it laser guided that only strikes and obvious Hamas supporter. But I don't know think anything like that exists.

Israel even warned people and told them to get out and that they were coming.

Man I don't know how many times we would stand for our neighbor shooting up our house before we decided to take their house completely out so they would have a hard time shooting our house up again.
Yes I agree, I think understanding the history of the conflict is important. I did not realize but evidently the Isreali's had made many concessions even to the point where they cannot even pray at their own holy site the Temple Mount. At one point they gave up nearly half the land where Isreal had small slivers of land but the Palestinians still refused to make peace.

I think the Isreali's seem a very accommodating people. They are smart and willing to share the land and the Palestinians could have had a good relationship with them and a peaceful life coexisting. Unfortunately this is an example of extreme Islam which is happening in many places around the world.

No amount of compromise will change the radical beliefs Hamas have. But I suspect that maybe if Hamas or the other extreme groups did not exist then the average Muslim and in this case Palestinian may have accepted some compromised peace deal as you can hear them when they are pleading that people don;t harm them and their families. Whereas Hama don't even care.

The poor young women who have been captures will face a horrible situation. Its totally wrong and a war crime. When your willing to indiscrimately rape and kill women and slaughter children you have no empathy and are a psychopath. An army of psychopaths.

The timestamp on that video shows 8pm. The hospital was hit 40 minutes before that.

What does this prove? I'm asking why hasn't a Hamas rocket ever caused an explosion the size of the one we saw at the hospital in Israel? The answer is of course, because they don't have anything that large in their arsenal.
How do you know that none of the 5,000 or so rockets was not?

If there was, I haven't seen any reports of massive damage caused by any of the 5,000 rockets that were fired into Israel.
