I'm going to say Halo, and here's why. I don't necessarily think the Halo series can compete, quality-wise, with the Final Fantasy series. Halo has only been in the FPS genre for a short while - all of two games. Though Bungie has produced other games in that universe (Marathon, for instance), Halo did not employ the same technical skills that those games did. In that short while, Halo has shot to the front of the FPS field because of its solid gameplay and revolutionary mechanics. It was one of the first FPS games to implement dynamic AI, employ a free-loading world map, offer up an actual story, and do all of that while still managing to create a fantastic multiplayer experience. It sold the X-Box.

The Final Fantasy series, on the other hand, while certainly one of the highest-quality game lines in the history of the field, did not bring that same incredible innovation to the field. They polished their games, but rarely took significant risks. Square(Enix) deserves a lot of credit for putting out excellent game after excellent game, but they did not do for the single-player RPG genre what Halo did for the FPS genre.

Definately final fantasy. I have 186 hours on two game of final fantasy 12.

The point is, you can't compre the two. One is fps, while the other is rpg. If you want to determine fun factor, Halo can get boring much faster then final fantasy. Halo, it's all about picking up weapons and shooting (or stabbing, blowing up, running over) your oponent. Where in final fantasy, you have a story that will only get old if you have played it over and over again. For me, I just like RPG's a lot more then fps.

Final Fantasy, because bullets and plasma shots just can't compete with fireballs and comic relief characters. I liked FF6 (as it was called for the GBA) because of the story AND the characters. With Halo, I'm kinda bored. Halo 1 was okay but Halo 2 was kinda...dumb, story-wise. OOH NOO, its the FLOOD! Wait a minute...who cares? I kicked their butt last time. And playing the Heretic was kinda boring, as he wasn't all too different from Master Cheif, other than than he can go invisible for all of 2 seconds. (Whooo....yippeeee...)
And as far as FPS goes, I'd have to choose FarCry, since it is REALLY fun to play. Headshots, anyone?
