  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Halo 2 was a monumental disappointment in my opinion. I'm so sick of companies refusing to take the time to make a decent ending. You could have left the story line open to another game and given us more than a 15 second ending. Same gripe goes for republic commando. Same gripe goes for KOTOR II. The video game makers are beginning to take their customers for granted. No ending? Send it out! Unfinished game? (KOTOR II) Send it out! The lemmings will buy it. And of course we do.

I believe it was awesome...the story wasn't short, it was just cut in repetive areas, or at least a few, and then filled in with action (unless you played on easy or normal, then yeah it did go fast)...they quinch the Halo thirst in order to keep fans happy, but at the same time they didn't go too far, because personally I believe this was just a small experment in order to show improvement, add new features, see what works and what doesn't...that way Halo 3 will be perfect, and even if you didn't like Halo 2, you like the story you like the games, and you HAVE to finish the story and see how it continues...I think Halo 2 was just the link between two major games, 1 and 3...and that Halo 3 was in production before two, my myth...but Halo 3 would take long to produce and people were desperate, so they give a small clip of Halo 3 which is Halo2...brings in tons of money, keeps fans happy and still wanting more...and where it did lack in 1 player, you can never be disappointed with multiplayer...so yeah i think this was a quick and efficient way to link halo 1 and 3 together during the long break in between. Not bad marketing, but just my opinion and myth.

I'm a bit mystified by this whole attitude of "who cares if the plot to Halo 2 was a bit rushed, contained many plot holes and had no real resolution? They'll fix all that in Halo 3." That's exactly what people said about The Matrix Reloaded when it came out, and The Matrix Revolutions didn't fix any of the flaws of Reloaded. I guess I just don't see where all this blind faith is coming from.

I think the internet and patches were the start of this trend. Back in the day whatever they released was the only version you would ever play. Sure there were some things that were riddled with errors before patching became common *cough*QFG4*cough*, but that was not nearly the norm. But now that things can be fixed after they are released the company cares more about getting a good release date than releasing a finished product. Heroes of Might and Magic IV didn't even have a multi-player mode pre-patch, the rationale was "who cares if it doesn't have this feature we offered to deliver, we can always patch it in." So once that attittude became set in companies it was natural that games would become more and more rushed.

Plot is another casualty of this atmosphere. And the ending suffers most, because when people are looking at your game they aren't going to be seeing if the ending is good, they will be looking at the beginning portions of the game. But it's too bad, games with well-developed endings (like Planescape: Torment, Sacrifice, or Undying and the like. Not all of those endings were long or even conclusive, but they were at least satifying and wrapped up everything that needed to be wrapped up for the story arc to end) are becoming more and more scarce. Even games with decent plots rarely have more of an ending that serves more of a purpose than to say "you won! all right!".

It was what I was expecting, not perfect, but not bad. Biggest disappointment for a ending of a game was KOTOR II, KOTOR I kicked ass both ending, story in I was brilliant but II just didn't have same feeling to it (and ontop of that ending was boring)

I didn't mind the ending at all. This is one thing that I have observed about recent movies and endings. They are taking the less is more attitude, especially when a sequel is planned. I think it works here.

also, the next book that will most likely come out can fix the plot holes and tidy things up. I fail to see anything to get worried about.

Halo 2 is and always shall be a wonderful game. Yes the story had issues that even made me disappointed. However........Xbox live multiplayer and the many cool weapons more then make up for that. I don't know about you, but I feel the replay value is in the multiplayer, not the story don't you? ;) Besides story, Halo 2 lived up to the hype in my opinion.
