  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Cool!

It was my last 'official' day at school today before exams so most of us headed to the bar. I did not like the taste of the beer I had at all. In fact, I don't know how long it will be before I buy one for myself again.

Oh whoa! I'd love to be done with school already. My friend in Australia just finished her finals and now has four months stretched out ahead of her for summer. I'm so jealous! She's already 18 so she can legally drink and go clubbing there. I would love to be able to go to a bar with friends to celebrate the end of the term, but it would be impossible here with their militancy with checking IDs. Even my PARENTS still get carded. Seriously. How old are you? Sorry for being nosy, haha.

Beer hasn't been very appealing to me, either. I don't like the ones from cans or from kegs at all. Blegh. When we were in Europe I drank draft beer sometimes and it tasted significantly better. I like golden beers and fruit beer. There's a brand called Floris that was nice and it has a low alcohol content.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as your friend, also at 18 y.o. Although regular school as I know it is over, I still have exams. :)

Lucky ducky!!!! :)

We have finals Monday through SATURDAY (cruel, right?) December 15-20, and then a two week winter break. I wish we had longer breaks in between terms like they do in other countries.

Saturday?

Yeah, we traditionally have 3 two week breaks during the year and about 8 weeks over summer (Dec/Jan/Feb), but this summer I'll be in winter because I'll be in USA! I'll happily take any advice/suggestion on where to visit

Yes! They are cruelly forcing us to take exams on a Saturday. In December! We have them from Monday morning through Saturday afternoon. I am supposed to be dancing in a matinee performance of the Nutcracker that day, so I'm going to try to see if I can take the exam scheduled for then in advance. I don't think they should ever have exams on the weekend. That's when your brain is meant to recharge and rejuvenate, and there are so many traditions in December that are most celebrated then.

Oh that's so fantastic you'll be in the US over winter break!!!!!!! Where do you plan on traveling? I definitely recommend spending time in California, and especially in the SoCal area, if you can. It's not uncommon for it to be warm enough to go to the beach in the winter, and even when it's "chilly" it's still usually gorgeous. We've had all of three days of rain this whole year thus far. There is spectacular scenery in California, most notably along the coast. Many people enjoy driving up the PCH from LA to Santa Barbara, and if they have time all the way up through Big Sur, which is like a series of postcards. It's honestly one of the most picturesque places in the world. I love the Bay Area, too. Mammoth is a fabulous place to visit if you're into snowboarding and skiing, and so is Lake Tahoe. I love DC and NYC, too, though they can be unbearably cold in the winter. I'm assuming you're a fan of Denver, hence your name???? Or I am mistaken? Will you be going to Colorado? I love snowboarding there, too!!!!!
