  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I just agree with my husband, if something as small as Halloween was something that could damn my daughter to hell, I'd rather give up that 1 day a year to ensure that doesn't happen.

I'm not judging anyone for their decision.

I wasn't implying that you were judging anyone. When people say they don't celebrate Halloween because they became a Christian or are firm in Christian beliefs makes it seems as if the rest of us Christians who do celebrate aren't as good as those of you who don't. And I'm not saying that you think that...that's just how it's always come across to me, that's why I made me remark..I wasn't trying to pick at you:hug:

Oh I totally understand. Just like when I said I became firmer in my beliefs doesn't mean I look down on those that don't share them.
My beliefs in my life have always been a little different than most, but instead of judging, I started to just accept that everyone is different. And just because I don't agree, doesn't mean that I have to think badly of someone. :)

For. I love Hallowe'en. Probably a party - not sure which. There's one I was invited to by a co-worker, but I might look a bit out of place, so I might just tag along to the one by best girlfriend is going to.

I'm thinking of going as either Alice in Wonderland or Snooki. Not yet sure... but I figure I have some time to decide to get a bad Mystic Tan or just go the easy route and go as Alice.

So long as girls and young women who'd be more at home on The Biggest Loser decide to go in the skimpiest outfits they can possibly find, there's nothing wrong with Hallowe'en. Cellulite is not sexy. There's nothing wrong with having it, but flaunting it is not the most attractive thing in the world. I don't even think there's anything wrong with a sexy witch costume or something (beyond it being rather boring or unoriginal; then again, I'm thinking of going as everyone's favourite Guidette Smurf, so perhaps I shouldn't be comment on the creativity of other people's outfits) but it's important to do it with some class and dignity.

That's one of the things that always bothered me about Halloween is women and girls using it as a excuse to dress in barely nothing in public. I think it looks bad no matter what your body looks like.
I'd love to see them try that here. it's sometimes snowing here on Halloween. :D

It usually rains and is freezing cold here on Halloween (every few years we'll get a good 60 degree Halloween)..and girls still practically go out in their underwear. It annoys me when I've actually looked for a costume that I can't find one that will cover my important things. I personally couldn't care less what someone else wears, but I don't want to wear it and there aren't many options.

Any costume that's supposed to be sexy is stupid and unoriginal.

But now I can't find any teen costumes anywhere and I'm still too small (!!) for women's costumes. *sigh*

My parents and sister will also be down for Halloween... so much for a good time.

Now now, I've found some for my wife that are pretty good. ;)

The problem is that most of them are cheap and look it. The good stuff is higher priced, but well worth the money. :yum: lol

As mentioned in this thread .. the orgins and history of Halloween is disturbing and I know that some extreme christian groups would say stay away from it.

But I Don't think anyone celebrates halloween for those reasons anymore well some might. But the majority celebrate for the fun of it and it has become so commercialized I don't thing many people really know what halloween was about.
