Yeppers, I've got the 500 meg video (it's in 4 parts I believe) that was released at E3 in LA in May. There's no way I'm going to play 'er on my Xbox, that's just wrong... mistreating something that's meant to be played on PC. Refer to Half-Life for PS2, it's just not the same. (I mean c'mon, an "auto-lock" feature? Is this Afterburner?)

Anyway, I'm equally excited about the Half-Life 2 mods, Day of Defeat 2.0?! It's times like this where I think there is a god. ;)

Yep. That and Halo II. But the originals are still selling like crazy so I'm not going to hold my breath.

Unfortunately those two games are going to be hyped up so much that I don't see how they could live up to the expectation.
But heck, the originals were so cool that you'd hardly have to change anything.

I believe it was HL2 that's been delayed because the source code, actually the whole game, was hacked clean off their company servers while in the final stages of development. Something about a brag that the coding was un-hackable, about as brilliant as yelling out 'the Titanic is unsinkable'. At least I think it was HL2, pretty sure anyhow. So it's a couple months off target, whatever the target release was.

Eh, PC games still generally have better graphics - or, the ability to bump up the graphics past the level at which consoles run them.

Target release used to be November, I think. Now it's next spring.. if I remember right...

And FPSs are just plain no fun on controllers. I wouldn't be a bit disappointed if HL2 is half what the video made it out to be. With those graphics (even if the video made um look a little better than they are), and HL1's...amazingness...I don't see how it could be bad. And I've given up on it's release date. I remember saving up for it for October. Now it's like March or something. Whatever. First time I see it on the shelves (hopefully sometime in the next 5 years :p) I'll pick it up.

Three words - mouse and keyboard.

I've played around a little bit with the beta of HL2. The graphics are really nice and when or if it comes out, it will be very fun to play. The current release date is 3-30-04 and it too far away IMO.
:\ You're either an official beta tester (and one of the very, very few testers) or you've broken the law really, really badly ($250,000 + 8 years, the fact that the source code was stolen could implicate you). Or you could be lying. Which one?

Hmm, well, if you ask me, I think PC versions of FPS's are always better than console (except Halo, I still am in awe how well Bungie interfaced the control/auto-aim feature to make it control so superbly. I have never played a console FPS with better control.)

One thing that I'd like to point out is mouse sensitivity vs. joystick dexterity. On a PC, you move your mouse an inch horizontally and you've spun around 180. With a control stick, no, you're still in the process. There's just so much more dexterity with a mouse (whole hand) as opposed to a thumbstick (thumb). Sure, I can control any given console FPS very well, but PC raises the bar entirely. Play Day of Defeat (and notice you've got a fraction of a second to make the kill before you're toast) and say... Ghost Recon: Island Thunder for Xbox (you've gotta ready, aim, re-aim, fire or just spray bullets the whole time).

Regardless, I could own the entire Xbox live Counter-Strike community if they were playing with Controller S's and I was playing with my sexay Microsoft "Blue" optical mouse with nothing but a Glock. :)
