i play it - i bought it just after christmas to see how good my new comp actually is!
it's incredible the graphics are the best i have EVER seen in any game and the storyline is good to.
i find it a bit scary at times though - i dont like things jumping at me (especially given the realism that the game has).

basically its a good ego boost for my PC as it runs all of the display options on "high" with a decent resolution (cant remember what it is) and it still manages about 115fps!! so smooth with amazing graphics its scary!!!

Hey,
Can anyone explain to me the whole Half-Life 2/Steam Account installation thing please?
Cheers!

its very dumb and quite annoying - it takes ages to install but you need it to play the game as i think when you install the game files they are encrypted and the steam program decrypts them when it installs - which is why it takes ages.

its basically intended to be a new way of distributing games but its so not worth it!

It does seem strange, but a good way of avoiding piracy, although I have heard about the numerous ways of getting round it!
However, I have discovered that you can actually just download the entire game through Steam. Unfortunately, I'm still working on a 56kps Modem at home, so that's not going to happen! :)

HL2, not all bad, but not all good at the same time. I never liked the original half life and despised the immature mess you had to put up with playing counterstrike. HL2 though is good, liked it, but won't be playing it as much as Doom3. Doom3 just destroys HL2 in too many ways. heh.

Dude you have to be telling a joke, because I find your post HILARIOUS.

I have Doom3, and I still haven't beaten it (I have had it since August), Yes it is a good game. But it doesen't grab me as much, didn't hardly keep my attention. And the online is just play gay.

Half-Life 2 supercedes Doom3 in everyway, Graphically, Story wise, gameplay, physics, but, I think they both win as far as guns. The Soul Cube in Doom3 is frickin awesome. =D

HL2 is a more "Social" game. The multiplay is better I agree, but playing video games isn't my only social time, and if anything it's my 'alone' time. But if it's wrong for a person to love running around in the dark shooting zombies alone in their dark room, then punish me now.

...and HL2 physics were never good :p

Although, I will concede one thing to Doom 3. It's the first game to get shading and lighting done properly. Even Half-Life 2 doesn't quite manage it.

Agreement.

But its just a fact that all-in-all Half-Life2 is a better game. Running around shooting zombies is DEFINANTLY a blast, but Half-Life 2 offers that (The headcrab thingys look like zombies) plus much, much more. (Like vehicles, and more weapons, more bad guys..

There's one thing HL2 has got that's totally sold me on the game, although I'm sure most, if not all have completed the single player aspect of the game I'd hate to give anything away, but that one thing is that grav gun that gets a "bit more powerful" shall we say. I've finished the single player though was mildly disappointed by it's conculsion so I'm replaying the single again cheatin all the way through this time :p It can be some what fun not worryin bout diein the second time round.
