Is Half-Life compared to Half-Life 2 like comparing Halo to Halo 2? I'm asking because I have heard from several people that Halo 2 isn't as good as Halo because it isn't the same and I'd like to know if Half-Life 2 is worth the nearly-$50 investement?

I never liked the Half-Life series in general. I didn't play Half-Life much to speak of. However, I thought it was a perfectly fine sequel. The weakest part of the game was the story, and that wasn't awful, certainly.

That is in my opinion, of course. :)

I couldn't really tell you because I haven't spent any time with the original Half-Life(other than a few hours on Counter-Strike).

I can tell you that I've played both Halos and Half-Life 2 enough to conclude that Half-Life 2 is a better game then them both. At least, that's my opinion.

I'm not sure if I'd say that it's worth a $50 investement though. I didn't think so...:holy: You could always wait until it comes down to $30 in probably a few months.

... that said, I have to say that Sid Meier's Pirates! is much more addicting. ;)
Sid Meier's games ARE worth $50 anytime though! I'm still play the various incarnations of Civilisation years after they come out.

Halo 2 is akin to Half Life 2 in the sense that many people were unhappy with the storylines, and conclusions of both games, feeling that they were just a middle chapter in something much larger.
The next games have to be good to redeem this fact.

HL 2 was a beautiful gaming experience, but it fell short. The only part I found really compelling was the urban combat at the end. If the whole game had been more like that, it woulda been wild. Knocking down striders was awesome.

Anyone else think the ending was awful?
