  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I've seen the trailer. I almost cried it was so beautiful. I cannot wait for this game.

LOL, samehere. I'm thinking we're going to have to save up some $$, because the graphics are so beautiful, that this PC will shatter by it's power. I'm not sure if I should wait a little while for the vga prices to go down, or spend it on something like an Radeon 9600..eh, 128 mb. Not to mention more ram and a better hardrive.

Ah that sucks. I just got a new computer less than a year ago (for college) so I'm set. I've got plenty of hard drive space, plenty of RAM, 128 mb video card. I think the minimum requirement is going to be a 64 mb vid card though.

Call me strange but I've yet to get excited about HL2. Doom3, yes! UT2004, yes! Halo2.... well DUH!

Those trailers look good although it's hard to pass jusdgement on a compressed movie file. No doubt the real time graphics of the actual game are set to blow us away.

The gun sounds sounded just like the ones from the Halo2 trailer... but that's just sound libraries for you I guess.

The use of the buggy looked very cool, and the environments looked pretty awsome. The little blokes running around looked kind of very low poly to me, but that's probably the movie compression making things unclear. Or perhaps mass produced models (such as general population) has been done with fairly low poly models to keep the game speed up.

Will be VERY intereting to see how much freedom is given in each level. From the movies they look VERY free roaming. In fact the whole city scape thing looked awsome.

So these trailers have taken me from a point of "dont bother me, I'm above all the hype" to "hmmm, do I buy it on PC or Xbox?"

I'll certainly be keeping a keen eye open.

Then again, I only have 1 keen eye left.... my other one if still watching for "Duke Nukem Forever". It's hurting that eye after 6 years or watching and waiting. :(

Do you get computer fairs where you are? you can get good bargains from them, also if you can get a 9500 over a 9600 its faster, I've ran benchmarks on both and 9500 won every time plus its more 'overclockable', that said over here the prices for 9800s are dropping like a dropping thing thats decided to drop very fast.

Anyway by the time HL2 comes out, the nex hardware will out and the 9800 will be quite cheap, heck by that its out, will pcs still exist?

Also there are rumors of HL3 but of course that gonna get delayed several times and a hacker will break into Valves computer systems and steal the artwork for the inside back cover thus delaying it several months because big companies never back up their data ;)

CHR15T05,

I agree with you on that one. Somehow I'm just hardly excited about HL2. I look forward to playing it, ofcourse, but it's not like "OMIPU I MUST HAVE THIS GAME, I MUST PLAY THIS GAME OR I WILL DIE WITH MY LIFE UNFULFILLED!!!" It's just lost the novelty of anticipation.

And part of the problem, I think, is that they give too much away. We've read about how HL2 is going to have monsters that hunt by smell, and you can spray aerosols to distract them, we've seen the screenshots and we've watched the trailer. Now we know what to expect, and once the game comes out we can get right in and play. Had Valve kept the project a Level 5 super-top secret then came out with a bang, and let us find all the nooks and crannys ourselves instead of telling everyone about them, then I could say "Wow! Never knew you could do that in a computer game" instead of "Coo- Very clever."

What do you think?
