  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My Love

In the meadow a
Gentle lowing, the cows are
coming home at dusk.

Seeking shelter in
the big barn, hungry, silage
sweet, scented like musk.

Settled evening, feeling
safe, knowing that the farmer
and dog will secure.

How I wish some one
would shelter me as safe, still,
loved and reassured.

Then comes the farmer
into my arms, kissing me,
Cradling me in love.

My safety is set.
He loves me, needs me, calls me
his sweet, precious dove.

>Lamb's Love, a fine Haiku senquence, great job!

Thanks! My fiance is a farmer, so I had some inspiration! With Valentines coming up and all, I've been trying to write some mushy poetry as a gift for him. He likes poetry, how lucky am I?

It's either that one or this acrostic poem with his name in it:

Just when I love you as much as I can,
On your love pleads me to go.
Sharing life without reserve
Everything composed
Pressing on—-my heart, for you,
Heeding nothing but love’s call.

Which do you think is better?

Just a quick note to mention that not all Haiku poetry is limited to 5-7-5. The Haiku I believe is mostly 17 syllables but some forms are open to the self expression of the poet. I know the dictionary will state that Haiku is 5-7-5, but in my early days of writing poetry, I found this to be what I believe is incorrect.

Actually, I believe most of the early masters did not conform to the traditional rigidity of the 5-7-5. As well many of those who write a lot of Haihu today do not follow this rule.

I personally have experimented with both the free-form style as well as the 5-7-5 and found 5-7-5 to turn out nicer - it is actually easier to master.

An interesting site:

I don't really write much haiku, but when I saw this thread I figured I'd do a few...

Misty morning fog
Enveloping the sandy shore
Gently enfolding.
~~~~~~~
The breath of heaven
As a mighty rushing wind
Gives life to the dead.
~~~~~~~

Only begotten
He cleanses us of our sin
Perfect Lamb of God.
~~~~~~~
What we sow we reap
Portraying our inner-selves
Our nature revealed.
~~~~~~~
