I think we have already seen that it was legal as the judge didn't overturn the verdict on even one of the 34 charges.

Please show me a precedent that confirms that bribery is legal. Paying hush money to someone who commits a crime for you is not legal grounds for the bribe. It's only right that the bagman, when he admits to his crime discloses who he committed the crime for. You can witness me committing murder and I can pay you to sign a nondisclosure agreement, however the crime has been committed.

A payment for a non-disclosure agreement is a legal settlement. It is not a legal expense. Legal expenses specifically refer to reimbursements for money that a lawyer spends in pursuit of work for their client. Things like paying expert witnesses, any fees associated with retrieving documents, travel expenses, etc.

Just because something is a legal matter and an expense does not make it a "legal expense". If Cohen had to travel to meet Daniels' attorneys, that would be a legal expense. If he paid a private investigator to verify her claims, that would be too. But fronting the money for the settlement is not.

And, actually, the car analogy is pretty apt. When you buy a car, you sign a legal contract. You agree to hand over a sum of money in exchange for a consideration (the car, in this case). An NDA is another form of legal contract - you agree to hand over a sum of money in exchange for a consideration (the other party's silence).

Importantly, you'll note that Trump's lawyers never made this argument during the trial. Rather, they focused on trying to show that Trump had no knowledge of the matter and was just signing off on Cohen's invoices. So you're either completely off-base, or Trump's $50 million in lawyers are totally incompetent.

In general “new facts” don’t come out in appeals, but the appeals court reviews the conduct of the trial and the procedures done by the attorneys involved in the prosecution (and less) the defense.

I believe it. One anecdote...My sister bought a house in a quasi-retirement community. Not a 55+ condo but a neighborhood wth many retirees in it (actually that has nothing to do with the story but it's a quiet place with a lot of American flags flying around the neighborhood. Anyway, She and her husband were doing yard work when a neighbor approached. They had been friendly with small talk but they weren't friends per say. So the neighbor asked here literally, "Do you think Donald Trump is going to be the savior of America?" Her husband rudely blurts out "I would believe that if I was crazy." The neighbor has not spoken to either one since. So "you" are everywhere in my personal once-removed experience. The neighbor had a look of surprise and was speechless so it made me think, there must be a whole crowd of people that think this way if these people weren't aware that seeing a President as a savior is a "normal" way of thinking. I guess in some places, it is.

It will no doubt bring together those who worship him or believe that he is their messiah. However as non-Conservative as I am, in the past, I have seen many conservatives not only show common sense but they usually believe in the rule of law. It's only the extremists who believe that Donald Trump is incapable of making a mistake or committing a crime. My feeling is that the salt of the Earth Conservatives will be open to seeing reason.
