No that is not a platitude. I know firsthand how hard it is to do that when anxious/depressed.
Read your bible if you want to hear from God. And read it in context to make sure you don't get confused by isolated verses e.g. laws in Old Testament written for different cultures in different time periods

Bro, Its the mercy of God that leads men to repentance. God isnt waiting for you to mess up or waiting for your 1st blaspheme or even your 1,333,254,349 blaspheme. Do you seriously think all your hate words and shouting at Him are going to make Him smite you? He sent Jesus to a horrific death so you had a choice to live in Him or not. He prolongs His judgement on earth so that men have time to repent. Trust me, your self hatred isnt going to move God to smite you. Why not turn your energy around to a positive force like faith and really see what gets the hand of God moving? Start shouting verses at the Devil with as much voice as you do to God and see how life turns around. You want to cause a real ruckus, start kicking demons out of your life with the authority of the name of Jesus. Now theres something to shout about! Bless you man. If you want real talk inbox me. Yea they do it at a little weslyan church around where I am. I used to be in recovery for awhile. It was a good step in the right direction for me. Keep it up

Many issues, especially deep hurts, require time and skilled counsel to resolve. There is much more than a deliverance involved.

Ill be honest. If I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that I wouldnt go to heaven, I would gladly kill myself. The only reason Im alive is because of the weird charismatic people that believe that your going to hell if you do. Thanks to them, Im still alive. No, their not doing me any favors. Me being alive does not do anyone any favors.

These monsters. They tell me to be baptized in the holy spirit and speak in tongues. They tell me lies. I refuse to be a part of these self righteous cowards who think their better than everyone cuz that "speak in tongues". I am sick of all these worthless self righteous acts! Admit your just as bad as anyone else you fools! These gifts are worthless! I don't care what you can do. Get out of my face and listen to my hurting and my pain. quit trying to fix me. This is how I feel about the charismatic church. The enemy has taken such a mighty foothold in it.

Im going to the first Baptist church right now. Ive just had a bad experience with a charismatic church recently. They literally tried casting demons out of me twice.

drag, I share your feelings. I haven't read all of this thread yet but I concur with what you say about tongues and the charismatic movement. I too have had bad experiences with them. Also I have had them try to cast demons out of me.

Some charismatic groups lack depth in their biblical understanding. Some reject any biblical scholarship where it may not support their own views and thereby become isolated from good exegetical principles. Then you get some odd, and in some cases not very helpful teachings.

I don't really know what Im being blessed with. Im losing everything. I just found out that I have 14 cavities in my mouth .

Usually what I find they do is pick scriptures that support their views as much as possible, but there is not enough evidence to support that what their doing is right.
