  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have been reading in my Church magazine to-day of 'Braz' dolls which are dressed in an extremly provocative way. Bright eye shadow, lipstick etc. Almost one in six 15-year-olds in the UK was given contraception last year, despite being too young to legally have sex. 51,000 girls aged 15 attended contraception clinics in 2006-07 with 31,000 aged 13 or 14.
This is such a great pity that these young people are so carried away by the media. They need to live a more wholesome, more innocent lifestyle. We in our Churches need to pray that these young people will not get caught up in a fast moving celebrity culture. Help them to be more sensible and more responsible.

Having a seven year old daughter I totally agree. There is opportunity though to teach our children to be individuals, to be confident and happy with who they are, by ourselves living by example. If our children see us trying to live up to the 'Jones' they will most likely do the same. As mothers of daughters, who hopefully wish to mimic Mom, we have a responsibility to lead by example.

I'd not deny that culture has to do with how young people think. But in my mind the main reason you people are interested in sexual things is with the good nutrition we have to say, young people are going God created us to have a major change in perspective on the world as we go thru puberty. Even in Biblical days they understood that one was physical ready for marriage at age 13-14 and they didn't have as good of a nutrition then as we do today.
