Isn't it wonderful that even when the world around us may be a total mess, we have Him to turn to?
Praise God.
I thank God we have this.

As I was praying this morning,
Seeing how this ole world is about to fall.
Heart broken for the lost,
But rejoicing I know my Jesus,
My Lord of Lord and King of kings.

he is the best insurance one could have.

Dear Father,

Open our eyes to Your purposes. You have created us with a mission, and You alone will enable us to understand and pursue Your purpose, for through Your Son, we are able to have access to you by the power and virtue of the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 2:18 (KJV) For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
Give us the knowledge and ability to perceive our experiences to know Your greatness, Your mercy and Your grace, so we can obey you. Help us to daily savor Your observable presence God, for You are with us.

Psalms 90:12-17 (KJV) 12 So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. 13 Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants. 14 O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. 15 Make us glad according to the days wherein thou hast afflicted us, and the years wherein we have seen evil. 16 Let thy work appear unto thy servants, and thy glory unto their children. 17 And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.
You are worthy of praise, dear Father, let your mercy satisfy our souls so we can rejoice and gladly do Your work and Your will, for Your glory and honor!

Your grace alone enables us to believe and obey. What a gift You've given us. Let us honor that gift by discerning Your will and Your ways.

Ephesians 2:8-10 (KJV) 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Help us, O Lord, as You have promised in Your Word, to serve with every thought, breath, word, and action, because we love you!

Colossians 3:23-24 (KJV) 23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men; 24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

And we must be cheerful in carrying out His purposes, for His grace and sufficiency in all He's done for us is so that we can abound in every good work for Him.

PRAISE HIS NAME! He is so good to us, giving us ALL things, calling us to glory and power and good works for Him!

Now when neither sun nor stars appeared for many days, and no small tempest beat on us, all hope that we should be saved was finally given up. Acts 27:26

Interesting how God let Paul go thru this storm with the others,,,to the point of giving up hope....and then He appeared..."For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, Acts 27:23

Paul was greatly encouraged,,,his ministry was confirmed again to him...or the works that God had ordained for him to accomplish...and then he was able to encourage others...what a witness in a dark time.

"Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me. Acts 27:25

As EarthMomma said, it is God's grace alone that enables us to believe Him and serve Him....have discovered lately just how powerful this grace is...beyond description.

I am being conformed. You are being conformed. We are all being conformed. And that's a very good thing, for we could never be Christ-like if it was not God's plan and purpose.

We are constantly involved in the process (the race) of being conformed to the image of God's firstborn son, Jesus Christ.

I like the emphasis on "being" as an active, ongoing process. Often we are hasty and impatient, wanting to think we can "get there" with some simple formula. But these verses clarify that the race marked out for us won't finish until He says it's finished, all the while we are transformed as our mind is renewed. When we are born again, we receive a new heart and spirit, but it is a process that renews the mind. The end result is God's, it is our job to tend to every aspect of the process.

God has decreed in advance that His Son is the firstborn, and we will be conformed to the image of His Firstborn, Jesus Christ:

Romans 8:29 (KJV) For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.

We are to look to Jesus as we perservere in this purpose of God's, for our identity comes from and through Him.

Hebrews 12:1-2 (KJV) 1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

It is because of God's many and great mercies that we desire to serve His purposes, taking no pride whatsoever in the process of being conformed. We must take care, for this is the very area that the adversary seizes upon to deceive us into his false religiosity. Haven't we all noticed this is some area or at some time? It's easy to see it in other people, but when we do, we must use that vision only to conform ourselves, for God is in charge, and we must avoid the devilish temptation to try to change others, that is not what discipleship is all about. God will deal the measure of faith necessary to every man, and by the humble example of submission to His confirmation, we set a far better witness than by criticizing the measure God has dealt to someone else, for we don't know how He performs His will, we must trust that He does.

Romans 12:1-3 (KJV) 1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

I am an ambassador for Christ, and so are you, if you are born again. This is not something we choose or refuse to choose, it is just something we are because God's Word says that we are. The only choice we have is whether to be an effective ambassador.

An ambassador is a spokesman, a representative for somebody else. As an ambassador for Christ, we speak for Him and we represent Him. When we acknowledge this purpose that God has given us, we can't take it too lightly, no matter how our identity is received by others.

People tend to judge ambassador's quite critically, especially if you are an ambassador for Christ, because we have to represent Him as He is, not as someone else wishes Him to be. He was judged a little crazy by His own peers, and we run the risk of the same judgment. But as Paul often declared, He would perform this purpose with holy boldness! In fact, both Jesus and Paul were a little bit wierd.

But our understanding of God's Word prompts us away from worldly standards, as we are conformed to the image of Christ, for our purpose becomes His purpose, to share the Good News of the Gospel, bringing others to God.

2 Corinthians 5:20 (KJV) Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

This purpose is a worthy one, and we must walk worthy in it, keeping at all costs unity and peace through the Holy Spirit among the body.

Ephesians 4:1-3 (KJV) 1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Ephesians 6:19-20 (KJV) 19 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
If I faithfully obey my call as Christ's ambassador, I will find spiritual health, and not fall into mischief. So obeying this call is good advice and practice in being drawn ever closer to God, and being conformed to the image of His Son.

Proverbs 13:17 (KJV) A wicked messenger falleth into mischief: but a faithful ambassador is health.
Another way at looking at this ambassadorship is explained by Jesus. We are salt and light, and as such, we must not lose our savor nor our brightness, otherwise we are ineffective for Him, good for nothing, to be cast out. We cannot glorify our Father which is in heaven if we don't understand and obey this calling as His Ambassador.

Matthew 5:13-16 (KJV) 13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. 14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Father, through Your eyes and Your Holy Spirit's guidance, we seek to know what it means to be complete in Christ, so that Your divine nature of love is glorified and honored.

Colossians 2:10 (KJV) And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
The Holman Bible is helpful in breaking down this verse for understanding:

Colossians 2:9-10 (HCSB) 9 For in Him the entire fullness of God's nature dwells bodily, 10 and you have been filled by Him, who is the head over every ruler and authority.
We are complete because the entire fullness (it is God's plan that fulness in Christ dwells in us) of God's diety dwells bodily (His nature dwells in our natural body). Therefore, His Word declares that He lives in us to complete His plan for us. This might be viewed as the complete headship through Christ completing us. (Check out these headship verses in order to understand that it's not about US, it's about completing God's plan through us:

1 Corinthians 11:3 (KJV) But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Ephesians 1:22-23 (KJV) 22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Ephesians 4:15-16 (KJV) 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.

Ephesians 5:23 (KJV) For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.

We are saved by the completeness of Christ in us. And this pleases the Father.

Colossians 1:19 (KJV) For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

He has given us this glorious possession for the purpose of unity so that the world may know the perfectness of His love.

John 17:22-23 (KJV) 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: 23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
This exceedingly great and precious gift of life and godliness through the glory and power of Christ complete in us allows us to partake of His divine nature, not for our personal pleasure but to promote the unity of love that is God alone.

2 Peter 1:3-4 (KJV) 3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Thank you God for showing us Your divine plan and Your nature which is love. May we promote that unity of love by understanding how we are complete through Christ Jesus.

Father, through Your eyes I can see that I am holy. This is who You have made me to be, for Your purposes, and not my own. It is so easy to misunderstand or even reject this concept, but Your Word explains all that we need to know, and Your Holy Spirit is the teacher that makes it possible for us to know what it means to be holy through Jesus Christ who lives in us.

1 Thessalonians 4:4, 7-8 (KJV) 4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; . . . 7 For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness. 8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.
You have called us to be holy. To be less is to be unclean and to despise God.

We are supposed to know these things.

1 Thessalonians 4:2, 6 (KJV) 2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. . . . 6 That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

We can take no credit whatsoever for being holy, it is by God's grace and our acceptance of Jesus Christ in us, that makes it possible.

These verses in the Amplified Bible add clarity.
Romans 12:1-3 (AMP)1 I APPEAL to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodies [presenting all your members and faculties] as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship.

2 Do not be conformed to this world (this age), [fashioned after and adapted to its external, superficial customs], but be transformed (changed) by the [entire] renewal of your mind [by its new ideals and its new attitude], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what is the good and acceptable and perfect will of God, even the thing which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His sight for you]. 3 For by the grace (unmerited favor of God) given to me I warn everyone among you not to estimate and think of himself more highly than he ought [not to have an exaggerated opinion of his own importance], but to rate his ability with sober judgment, each according to the degree of faith apportioned by God to him.
There is a purity that is of God in accepting that we are holy in Christ. God's plan is so awesome, I can't imagine not wanting to understand all that His Word has for us.

2 Corinthians 7:1 (KJV) Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
I believe God. His Word is true. I am who His Word says I am. His Word becomes alive and active in me when I believe it. I shall praise Him, for He has made me holy, and He will never leave me nor forsake me as I walk in His Word.

I am clothed with the righteousness of God. Wow, now that's some holy garment! But it's not a garment we choose. We choose to believe Jesus Christ, and we are clothed. May we honor that clothing by bringing glory to God, and not cast it off for any reason.

Father, as I study Your Word, You show me great and mighty things about You and Your plan. Through Your eyes and Your Word, I can see that through Christ, you have clothed me with righteousness. May I never forget that those garments are for Your purposes and Your glory.

Job 29:14 (KJV) I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.

It is God in Christ that reconciles us into righteousness, committing us into the Word of God, which is reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 5:19 (KJV) To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

2 Corinthians 5:21 (KJV) For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

If it is Your purpose, Father, to make me Your righteousness through Christ, please help me to wear that robe for Your honor and glory always, and to never set it aside for any earthly or adversarial purpose (such as believing satan's lies that I am not righteous). Your ways are way beyond my own understanding, and I will lean on You, and believe Your Word that I can be what Your Word says I can be.

I am so glad to be Your child, and so thankful for Jesus Christ, I will abide in Him, and Your Words will abide in me! I believe that You are God, and You are in control, and I believe in Jesus! I will put on Christ!

Galatians 3:26-27 (KJV) 26 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27 For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.

I am safe. I'm saved, and I'm safe, Thank God! Praise His Excellent Greatness, for I am safe in the protection of God through His Son my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. And you are safe! We must tell the world of this safety.

Over the years, people have argued about what it means to be safe in Jesus. Some still argue in vain hope that safety means earthly safety from worldly things. Well, in a way, there is safety in knowing that He will provide and protect us, but this safety and provision is first and formost a spiritual concept. And until we have entered into a spiritual relationship with our Savior, we'll never be convinced of His provision and protection.

As used in this verse in Psalms, safety comes from the Hebrew word for security (assurance). I can trust with bold confidence in this safety. I don't have to understand it in the worldly setting when I know spiritual safety.

Psalms 4:8 (KJV) I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
I will be preserved and protected in Jesus. This is very good news in a world that lives in constant fear. (And I am convinced that this fear which comes from the devil is caused by seeking worldly safety rather than spiritual safety.) Think about all the emails you receive that drip with fear of the world. You are warned that you'll be harmed, poisoned, and must be on constant guard with gimmicks for keeping yourself safe: quick, pass the fear on immediately or you'll have bad luck! For the reason of our worldly perspective, we look to news to feed this fear, and I imagine that satan is so pleased. When we obsess about all the bad things that can happen, we are not exhibiting faith in the Word of God. May we let the Word so live in our hearts and our lives that we notice and even savor God's presence in this world, for He is here, He is in control, and He has given us safety and peace through Jesus Christ.

What we need to do is look to the Good News of the Bible: Our safety is in Jesus alone. When inspite of the world, we enter into His rest and peace (which is not idle but an active way of abiding in Him with safety), we overcome and conquer the world! I don't expect the world to understand these spiritual truth of God, but I pray that those who know Jesus grow closer and closer to the safety that is Him by studying His Word. I have. You will too. His Word says we will!

Psalms 16:1 (KJV) Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
Safety in Jesus only comes from believing God. More than just knowing that there is a God, we must believe that His Word is true, and that we are what His Word says that we are: safe in Him. Sounds kind of crazy to those who don't have a relationship with Him. It always has. Even the Jews who counted themselves religious thought that Jesus was crazy, claiming He was full of the devil and mad. Jesus responded to these allegations with some of the most important words of the Bible, explaining the safety He has to offer to all who believe.

John 10:19-30 (KJV) 19 There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings. 20 And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him? 21 Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind? 22 And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter. 23 And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch. 24 Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly. 25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. 26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: 28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. 29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. 30 I and my Father are one.

Being safe is an eternal condition, not a worldly condition. As Christians, we are not immune from danger or death or all earthly disaster. Rather, we are safe in spite of danger, death or whatever earthly disaster comes. ALL of Christ's own will be in heaven: none will go to hell. Now that's safety. We are safe because He is the good shepherd, and we are safe because He is One with God. Therefore, the Son cannot fail and will present His people at the end, safe and sanctified.

Jesus the Good Shepherd holds us by the hand. And behind the grip of Jesus is the grip of the Father. Of necessity we are holding God's hand too. But it is Jesus' grip that ensures our safety. The more we follow him, the more of His voice we hear, the more conscious we shall be of our safety. "27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:"

The world can be a very scary place, with no safe place, without Christ. And nothing will ever make us feel safe in the world, for there is no carnal safety, no matter how hard the worldly try, no matter how advanced the world becomes.

Being safe in Jesus' arms means having a relationship with Him: we are His sheep, we are His bride. Through belief, we learn to depend totally on Jesus in spite of the world. And through belief, our safety is exhibited through peace and joy that grows in us from being His, all to His honor and glory. After all, it's God plan that matters, not ours. And His plan is above all others. By living in the safety of Jesus Christ, we walk in the victory over satan that Jesus died to assure. Father, through Your eyes, I can see that I am safe. There is no other way for me.

Romans 8:31 (KJV) What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Hi Leastone
One difficulty with all that you have said , some times we need to remove the barriers that we have built up over time to 'protect us' before we can allow God's blessings to flow into our lives.

1. Pulling down the strongholds
2. surrendering all the 'wrong thinking' we develop as children growing up in imperfect homes
3. trusting In God with all our mind and leaning not unto our own understandings
alllowing God to be Lord of all of our lives and not just a part of it.

for example if we immagine our lives arre like a mansion
we can allow God to be in just the parlor or allow Him to clean up every area of our lives
so painful but very necessary
