How much I need Your grace, O Lord, How quickly I turn to other cisterns of help, all broken and shallow. But when I call on the God of all grace, I receive all I need. I am never disappointed, never short-changed..Thank you for saving me by Your grace and keeping me by Your grace.....

I used to listen to this so often when i first came to Jesus and it it still a favorite of mine:

When ever I get negative thoughts in my head that will not go away, I start to sing (in my head not out loud), I Love you Lord. You know how you get a song in your mind and cannot get it out, it is the same principle.

I love you Lord and I lift my voice,
to worship you, oh my soul rejoice.

Take joy my King in what you hear,
may it be a sweet, sweet sound in Your ear.

I just sing it over and over until the thoughts go away. It works when you are having a problem with some one also.

Music moves me too.. So first thing in the morning while I am making breakfast, I strap my cd player to my waist.. put on my headset.. and play one of my favorite cds..

Right now that is The David Crowder Band's Sunset & Sushi.. and when "Oh Praise Him" How Great.. or Revolutionary Love plays.. I am be-booping all over the kitchen.. Joann McFatter's Cloud by Day.. Fire by Night is wonderful as well..

And I play it loud.. so if my lips are moving.. I'm probably singing.. my poor hubby.. *smile*

Praising & Worshipping Him is a wonderful way to start the day.. It sets my mindset for the day.. (and gives me lots of exercise as I raise my arms in surrender to Him and dance..)

This is a very good thread! In my daily walk, I'm learning how to be patient and to be anxious for nothing. Sometimes we try to get ahead of God and forget in the process, that this is a very quick way to miss our blessings. I'm learning to think more positive thoughts instead of negative ones. Thinking negative thoughts allow the enemy to come in and steal your joy, peace, and confidence. I'm learning to pray and study my word more. There's nothing like getting all by yourself and spending time with God with no distractions so you could focus only on him and hearing his voice. Sometimes we get too distracted and therefore, we don't be in poistion when God gets ready to bless or use us. We must always remain in our rightful places so God can pour out his riches on us and I'm not talking about just with materialistic things, I'm talking about with spiritual things!

You would be amazed at the things that God have in store for us as his children only if we learn to humble ourselves, pray more, fast more, praise him more, read our word more, and just be in position so he could use us. Distractions hinder us from hearing from God, when you can't hear from him, how do you know if you're doing his perfect will? There's no possible way to be lead if you can't hear from him but by your own understanding. The word tells us to be led by God and to trust in him and lean not to our own understanding, but in ALL our ways acknowledge HIM and he will direct our pathway. I'd like to encourage those who may not have the strength to go on. It is at times like this that God sends His children, His ministering angels, His saints to intervene on our behalf. It is at times like this, the bleakest of the bleak, the seeming hopeless chasm yawning, ready to swallow us up, that His grace manifests itself in the form of those who pray for us.

It is those who I am praying for now. THose who are at their wits end and beyond, those who cannot see past the shroud of darkness that is engulfing them, those who are tasting the 'valley of the shadow of death' and feel forgotten, cast aside.

Father You allow our very foundations to be shaken to the core. It is for a reason we cannot see, nor comprehend. Grant the grace necessary to bear what we must. When our legs buckle bear us up and carry us if necessary. Discouragement is powerful and clouds and muddles our vision and at times, shuts us down. WE are weak. YOu know our frame. WE are but dust. You knew us before the very foundations of the earth were put into place. YOu know our purpose. Grant us a glimpse of the greater picture so we can be encouraged that it is for a season that we are cast down. Enable us, by YOur grace, to go on, one step-at-a-time. Send yOUr ministering angels to us in those dire moments that stretch our very souls almost beyond what we can bear, and preserve us. for the sake of Him, Who paid the price for us, for the sake of Him, Who loves us beyond what we can comprehend, for the sake of Him, Your only begotten Son, I ask it, amen.

Kindness is simple, brief, quicker than the blink of an eye. God is the focus. When someone is bereft of spirit, and genuine kindness is bestowed, it's as if you are removing blinders so they can see the great grace of God. You are invisible. It's God that takes over through you.

Then you celebrate. Knowing that God came, by your invitation.

When others are too confounded, too bereft, too distraught to pray, pray for them, in their stead.

God hears.
He answers.
He comes
like a warm blanket
to drive the chill
from a soul.
Then that soul
remembers
Who God is.

And in heaven there is celebration.
And God smiles.

Great thread! I'm too tired to say anything really profound but here's something I'm finding great for getting close to God; singing my favourite christian songs whenever, just around the house doing chores or walking along the street, just quietly to myself. There's a great song that says repeatedly "Jesus' blood never failed me yet, never failed me yet, Jesus' blood never failed me yet. This one thing I know, that he loves me so," and I couldn't get it out of my head as I went for a walk and I felt so at peace

Thank you for sharing that. I soooo needed that reminder...I have been devoid of praises to God for days. As a choice I will choose to praise Him.

As you described the above, I pictured what it must be like to 'walk' with God....and how to 'pray without ceasing'...

That's the closest example I can think of. I was meditating on what it means to 'walk' with God, and there, you just spelled it out in such a delightful way...

Life is not about waiting for and collecting blessings. If you look only for the blessing, you will miss Me as I pass on by once you collect your goods. This life is first and foremost about your relationship with Me. Does anyone still know that a life of blessedness flows from our relating? The true blessings of life are attained in your knowing Me, for there is no higher attainment. Everything else you'll ever gain—wealth, health, friends, prestige—all of it will be gone one day.

Look for Me in these and other possessions for I augment each part of life and put the proper touch into it in such a way that you'll know where things belong and how fleeting possessions of any kind are. I bring seasons of anointing to areas of your life that only last for a time—some as short as a sunset, others as long as another's life. But in the end, it all comes back to you and Me.

It is in this connection that true love finds its expression, a love that builds My Kingdom on the earth and prepares the way for your coming to Me, closer and closer with each step, together forever, a love unmatched in the universe. Let us love as I have ordained it. Do not let my gifts for you ever be a source of entanglement. For the true light that shines brightest, shines when you come to Me with open hearts and hands, yearning only to know and love Me more deeply.
