I think it would be a good idea to take personal disputes and grievances to private venues. These arguments are totally inappropriate for a Christian forum.

Not all conflicts are bad. We can learn from them and even test our own capabilities with some of the hottest topics.

I don't know of exactly what post you are talking of, but I welcome conflict as an opportunity for change. If Jesus ruled out all arguments then the Gospel would not have reached many ears.

When you consider all the people on this earth we SDA's fight amongst ourselves too much.

Generally speaking we get too serious I think on forums. We don't hear the tone of voice in which things are spoken and so we imagine how things are said.

Still, even in real life, SDA's are supersensitive. If engaging in rough talk is a sin, so is being overly sensitive. How many church fights have been started by some [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] who winged about the way someone spoke to them?

The church doesn't suffer so much from bluntness as it does from pussyism. We are full to the brim with those who cannot take a joke or think that someone is out to hurt them.

If people appear to be rough, it's not usually that they deliberately planned it that way, it's just that they may have needed to choose better words thats all. Let's stop this hypersensitivity pussyism, and allow your fellow bloggers a bit of slack - afterall, it is a forum?

hmm..we are all in the ministry of reconciliation(2 Cor 5:18). I don't know what happened but i sure hope that the affected parties can make efforts to reconcile with one another. And I suggest doing it privately instead of doing it in front of everyone. If we want to reconcile people to God, we need to learn how to reconcile us with people.

Unfortunately this has been going on throughout the history of SDAism. There is something inherintly wrong and I 'predict' that the new rules of this small forum will not be able to tackle 160+ years of conflict within the SDA denomination. Watch and see.

It is endemic to, and inherent in, the human religious system called "christianity" itself. (I call it that to distinguish it from True Faith In Christ). Come on, these are the folks who brought you the crusades, the stocks, the witch hunts, the heresy sniffings, the pogroms and the stake. Not some particular denomination, but ADHERENTS OF THE HUMAN RELIGIOUS SYSTEM CALLED CHRISTIANITY WHICH IS TODAY'S EQUIVALENT TO THE HUMAN RELIGIOUS SYSTEM OF THE PHARISEES AND JEWS IN JESUS' DAY. And like those dogs of old they shall persecute the righteous with poisonous leaven, and inject their disease into the stream of spiritual consciousness to destroy the innocent and defile the pure.

I agree with the origional post and Sophia's suggestion of taking it to PMS. (lost my quotes, dangit)

Coming from the fact I'm a newbie to the Adventist church, it's certainly been a sad eye-opener to see all of the fighting here. I had this warm-fuzzy vision that coming to an Adventist/Christian forum would be a lot more pleasent than it can be at times. I don't want to name names because it's not about that at all. It's just sad to see when Satan can work his way into even those whom love God as much as you guys do, in such small ways as offending and upsetting eachother. There have been times I've wondered why I stay here..and even if the Adventist church is really all that Godly, when I see the fueding and issues that pop up here.

It's hard enough to have seen those who are struggling and questioning Adventist doctrine, when I don't have myself rooted in any doctrine yet as I'm too new. It's confusing. And then to see everyone fight like they are. Erg.

Bah. Regardless, I love you all. I sincerely pray and hope that all of this can end some day, before He comes back.

I believe they will be enforced to the strictest letter of the law, and I'm sure that some will be shut up and driven away, never to be heard from again. This is evident in the vast amounts of dialogue, debate, disagreement, compromises and voting that has ocurred to establish the rules of this forum, down to detail in minutia. Anyone who steps out of line will be hammered, reported, wadded up, cast aside, and written off as damned by the 'enforcers' of the rules. In effect it's a mechanism of control to keep those who do not agree, even if they disagree respectfully, in check.

But the point is this. Even if all those who oppose certain SDA beliefs to some degree were slaughtered from the forum and banned for life, their computers taken away and never allowed to get on the internet again it would not solve the inherent division problems within the SDA church. Division is part of the DNA and unity has never existed. It's a bandaid on a severed limb.

But...there will probably be a short period of pretend peace because it will all seem new and reports will happen the moment someone even suspects that a 'rule' has been bent or broken. But it won't last for long because of the DNA. You can't change a leopard's spots or a tiger's stripes without complete transformation which doesn't come from holding tight to a company line.

Unreal how much truth Freeindeed has spoken. This is exactly what I have been contending from day 1. All this talk of 'unity' and getting along is laughable (sorry Red, but it's true.) I wanted a split forum the whole time and still do. A major mistake was made when that was voted down IMO.
