  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hm, since we seem to have some other "lovers" threads, I figured I'd make a Grieg appreciation thread. My current favorite is "Wedding Day at Troldhaugen" (which I have finally learned how to spell). If I had any aptitude for piano, I would learn it.

How about everyone else? Grieg fans, gather here!

You're welcome :p ;)

I've played about 13 of his lyric pieces, the previously mentioned piece being one of those. He's one of my favorite composers... which may not be saying much  However, I'm half Scandinavian, actually, and really love a lot of his pieces. Peer Gynt is really great, too

Hmmm. Perhaps lesser known by name. I think most people have heard his piano concerto in a minor at least once or twice, and would recognize the beginning of the first movement/the main theme. They would also recognzie "Morning" and "In the Hall of the Mountain King" from the incidental music to Peer Gynt. They also might recognize one or two of his lyric pieces, but only if they actually listen to classical music, hehe.

Very nationalistic composer though, I like the nationalistic composers. Chopin was nationalistic, too, hehe.

Oops. I'm talking about Chopin in a Grieg thread
