So I've seen Joel Osteen and Rick Warren discussed, and I personally have no experience with either, but what do ya'll think about Greg Laurie. I personally like listening to his podcasts. I like how he is Biblical and emphasizes how the Bible is just as relevant today as any time.
I like how he doesnt try to sugar coat his sermons or ideals.
Your thoughts?

I like Greg Laurie's teaching very much. I think he teaches the Bible how it is meant to be taught book by book, chapter by chapter and verse by verse. This teaching style means you get the God's word "in context" and for me that means getting the "full meaning of the word".

I don't care for pastors who's teaching seems to be all opinion and little if any scripture, while some with that teaching style may pluck a verse out and use it here and there, it's out of context and they may apply it in a way that makse the scripture look like it agrees with their topic, but out of context is out of context in my book. I just don't think you get the full meaning that way.

I think that Greg Laurie does a great job of keeping God's word in context and it's meaning complete. To me Greg Laurie not only says that scripture is relevant today, he shows you how it is relevant and does it in a way that is easy for most folks to understand and relate too. I think Pastor Bob Coy and Chuck Smith also fall into this "great teaching" catagory. I can hear the love in their voices and the way they teach helps bring the Bible to life as I listen.

His teaching has been a real blessing to me.

I love Greg Laurie. I love how he is so down to earth. He makes you feel like you are just chatting about the bible in your den with him. He goes verse by verse and explains it all in plain engish and then talks about how that relates to today. He never sounds "preachy"....just like you're having a nice chat. I listen all the time, as well as to Chuck Smith.

Sadly, Greg Laurie lost his son a few weeks ago in a car accident. His son was just 33 years old part of his ministry and was a graphic artist who did all of his posters, website and book designs. He left behind a wife an small child. Regardless of how you feel about him as a teacher, please keep he and his family in your prayers.

I know, I thought that was so sad, I put him on many prayer lists in groups that I am in. It kills me because Greg almost always brought him up in his ssermons, him and his granddaughter.

I like him. There are always things that you may or may not agree with, but for the most part he's right on.

And it was amazing how he handled his son's death. That truly is sad and something that stays with a parent I'd think their whole life.
