Hello all!

I just wanted to introduce myself. For some time I have considered myself a Christian and was quite content not going to a church after being let down by the Church of Christ (not the UCC). That was about 8 years ago.
I was introduced to and became interested in the Messianic movement so hopefully you will understand if I occasionally refer to Jesus as Yeshua.

However after much praying over the last few days I believe I have been called to the Episcopal church. It really is quite the departure from what I was introduced to when I was younger in the CoC but I have been doing some lurking here and I do "think" I know what to expect. This coming Sunday will be my first time in a Episcopal Church and am greatly looking forward to it.

I also know much of the issues that the ECUSA is going through and I accept that. Despite the controversies, I genuinely feel this is the Church I need to be a part of. The Church I will be calling home.

All that being said, I look forward to getting to know others here and some lively conversations.

God bless.

Welcome to STR and also to the Anglican Communion and The Episcopal Church its province in the United States!

By all means, feel free to ask plenty of questions and fellowship as much as you'd like. There are several exceptionally knowledgeable folks here that can answer your questions or point you into a good direction. :)

Welcome! We are glad to have you with us.

Please come back and post impressions after your first service. I, too, am a convert from another faith practice tradition. I love the liturgy and reverential worship I find in the Episcopal Church. My only regret is that I did not find my way home earlier.

Thank you all very much for you warm welcome. I am anxious to attend Mass today. The church has 3 different services of varying styles. The Priest suggested that I attend all 3 over time to see which style I prefer. I know I really prefer the more "high-church" (I believe that is the term) but can easily enjoy other styles. I told the Priest I would just attend all 3 today. Which apparently that is perfectly fine to do. :) So yea, I will be there from 8:30am until 12pm today. I won't do that all the time, but it will give me a chance to know what to expect and find my comfort level.

I will likely tell you all how it went so I will squeak at ya then!

Hello again!

I just got back from Mass. I stayed for both services, the traditional and contemporary to get a feel for each. I really loved them both so I have no clue what to do on a regular basis. I only took the offering once though during the first service. The priest said I could take it each time if I went to both, but for some reason that didn't seem right. So second time around I only received a blessing.

I definitely feel like I have found my new home. It really was all I expected and more. I also really want to participate in the Church and its work somehow. I really was impressed with it that much

After the services, one of the priests let me keep a pew copy of the BCP to keep as I told him I really wanted to read and study it when not at church but honestly did not enough money to buy one yet. He said keeping one would not be an issue.

I hope this isn't presumptuous, but I think I will now consider myself an Episcopalian Christian. Again, thank you all for such a warm welcome here to STR and you will certainly be seeing more of me.

Once again, welcome. We would be glad to talk about your experience and discuss your questions. I was confirmed nearly two years ago, and still have questions that I sometimes talk to my Priest about. There is a lot to take in. :liturgy:

Glad you enjoyed the services!

Do you have any specific questions from the liturgies you attended? Also, where exactly did you go?

I really did enjoy them.
I went to a church here in Eugene, OR. St. Mary's Episcopal. :)

Oddly enough, I really don't have any questions... yet. I was able to follow along in the BCP quite easily as well as the hymnal and the Collect's they provided in the bulletin.

Plus I did do some "homework" before I even went there so I would be prepared. Did allot of reading here on STR and some other Anglican Info sites. It actually felt rather natural to me. I knew when to kneel, when to stand, cross myself and most of the time, I knew what words to say in response (mostly due to the limited exposure I have had in RCC services I had been to).

Also I downloaded a copy of the latest BCP and studied its layout and contents so I would have SOME clue so I wouldn't get lost trying to juggle and find everything to follow along.

So, as of this moment, I have no questions regarding the service. However I am sure that will change soon enough. If anything, any questions I have will be along the lines of doctrinal "technicalities". I can't think of any examples off the top of my head, but I am sure that won't last long.

Eugene, Oregon! A friend of mine is the priest at the Serbian Orthodox parish there, St. John the Wonderworker.

If you ever get a chance to stop in or else see a man with a long beard and a cassock walking around town, please tell him that Fr. John from St. Tikhon's says hello :)

Oops. For some reason, from the way Fr. Daniel talks, I've always pictured a small town, so I thought that you might easily run into him walking around town. I just looked it up and, apparently, it's a decently sized city.

:p

Actually I Eugene is pretty large but I have been to the Serbian Orthodox church before. I have attended there for about a month. Wonderful Church and Fr. Daniel is a very nice man. :)
