Greetings from a Romanian Atheist

Hello, everyone.

You probably don't get to see my kind often around here... people call me Speed and I've been an Agnostic Atheist for about six years, with a transition period as a Deist before that in my teenage years.

My religious education has been a pretty thorough, traditional Romanian Orthodox Christian upbringing, with a good amount of church-going.

Most, if not all of my family contains avid believers and I've spent a whole lot of time studying and experiencing rites, monuments, art, stories, and everything inbetween.

While I do not believe any religion or supernatural concept is factual, I do enjoy discussions on the matter and appreciate the great things that have originated as a result of the various world beliefs, as well as the not-so-great things caused by them.

They shaped the world we have today, and continue to shape it to a great extent.

Anyway, looking forward to discussing things with you guys, both subjectively and objectively.

Welcome. I'm a Christian married to a non-theist. I was raised Christian, went through an agnostic period from approximately 2002-2004 (the time where I naturally met my husband), and then went back to theism in 2005.

Many of the atheists online these days can get quite hostile; my husband left a FB forum where they were demanding that he leave me, his Christian wife, for a non-theist. Well, he didn't like that one bit.

From your post, however, it looks like you want to have good, genuine discussions, which is refreshing in today's climate.

Is an Agnostic Atheist someone who is not sure if they can or cannot prove there is a God or gods so taken position of there is no God or gods?

I enjoy talking about various world beliefs as well including positions of there is no evidence or no God as well. Indeed both views have caused great things and not-so-great things.

I find discussion is important. Each side listening and sharing. I hope to hear some of your views.

Yep, that's pretty much exactly it. It's probably the best term for what I believe. I acknowledge that I can't disprove God, but it's the same deal with Zeus or any other figure. It doesn't keep me from saying that they don't exist.

That reminds me of a quote from one of my favorite kids movies, "Megamind," where Titan proclaims, "There is no Tooth Fairy, there is no Easter Bunny, and there is no Queen of England." Cearbhall, is the Queen of England one of the any other figures that you don't believe exists?
