  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Pink Floyd has better stuff than the wall - Like the DSotM.

Darn straight. Like Bohemian Rhapsody, I think The Wall, as an album, is highly overrated. I think Atom Heart Mother and Obscured By Clouds get far too little respect, and Meddle, despite it's sort of cult-like fandom, deserves more too (I have very passionate feelings on Pink Floyd albums, as you can tell).

In fact, I'd like to take back my original vote for Beethoven's 6th due to the fact that's its' not really a song per se, and replace it with a tie between "Wot's Uh...the Deal" and "Echoes", two of the greatest rock songs of all time.

For me, "And all that could have been" by Nine Inch Nails.
ah..if you're talkin' NIN's then, I'd say that 'Head Like a Hole' was a pretty brilliant song...

best song of all time, though?

man, that's incredibly difficult to narrow down...but I'd have to say that if Louis Armstrong's '(What a)Wonderful World' was not on that list, I'd crumple up that list, bite on it abit (cuz maybe I'd be hungry or s/t...:sorry: ), take some kerosene & douse it, then toss that list onto a huge pile of dry leaves to be burned in the fall...erm, yeah... :D

seriously, though, you couldn't have an all-time faves list w/o some classics on there... ;)

oooh, and let's not forget the Temps...

oooh, and hendrix...

oooh, and....

"Respiration" by Kweli, Mos Def and Common.
Completely agree. One of the greatest songs ever. No doubt.

"Bohemian Rhapsody" is boring. My vote for best song ever would go to "Strange Fruit" by Billie Holiday.

Did they contribute to the history of music?
Did they revolutionize the musical society today?

No, it's rap. Rap didn't revolutionize anything except more violence in da hood and more chink-chinky for the playas. Shame on you.
And what has rock "contributed" with? More promiscous sex and drug use amongst suburbian kids? You're just slamming a whole genre just because you don't like it.

And yes, like it or not rap has contributed to the history of music, as well as soul music and R & B.
