I believe grace is something that has been given; but it is also something that must be received.

CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Definitely. If you don't believe that you were forgiven, you can't live under grace.
Grace and obeying the law is a very confusing issue for most I think. On the one hand, we are told that we are under grace and we don't need to do the works. On the other hand, we are told that we need to do the works because "faith without works is dead" and "not all who call me Lord Lord will enter the kindgom, but those who do the will of God".
I personally think this is a VERY confusing message. So I think the best way to look at this would be like this: (in practical terms)
we should realize that God is not harsh with us, we have grace, we have His kindness and mercy, He is not judging us, but loves us.
and while we realize that, we should also strive to be the best person we can be.
I think if we do both of those, we won't "miss the boat" no matter whether we understand the subject of grace/and law or not...

We are all given grace, but many of us don't have the understanding to receive it as a gift. In other words, if you don't know you have it, you really haven't received it. You're living oblivious to it. Too many of us live like this - thankless lives, hopeless lives, not realizing what they really have.
