Grace AND Obedience....a conundrum?

Jesus shows grace towards those who make a consistent and sincere effort to obey His teachings.
How amazing it would be if our government leaders would attempt to do this!
What a totally different world we would have if they followed just one of them:

i have long believed that both are necesary. those that believe one supercedes the other (as a war grace vs obedience) both are wrong.

Grace comes first. Without grace there is no faith. Through grace we have faith and through faith, obedience. However, obedience is a result of faith not a condition for faith. Therefore, salvation is by the grace of God through faith apart from obedience. Obedience flows naturally from the love of God that only saving faith can impart, therefore, it is a fruit of our salvation but not a condition for our salvation.
