  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I had heard a sermon about American civil governemntal principles coming from Biblical principles. I would generally agree, as it seems the law was derived from the Ten Commandments. But it goes beyond that. Isaiah 33:22 says "The Lord is our judge, the Lord is our lawgiver, the Lord is our king, it is he who will save us." This suggests that seperation of powers originated with the Bible.

Finally, with man being sinful in nature, the system of checks and balances set in place by the founding fathers seems to have been set in place to diminish the blow of imperfect and sinful leaders.

Does anyone have thoughts or views on this?

Well, I realize that democracy is not biblical, as it came from classical culturse such as Rome and Greece, but is it really evil? "And every mand did what was right in his own eyes" I don't see as directly related to democracy. Instead of everyone doing what was right in his own eyes, I see democracy as what good is in the population as a whole trying to weigh out the evil of those around them. I'm not sure if this makes sense to others. I personally would have a suffrage examination in place, something like the Imperial Chinese beurocratic examination, based on morality. But I would base it on Biblical morality, which surprisingly has many parallels in Confucionism, the basis for Chinese morality. This way, only those that know the difference between right and wrong, what is really right and wrong, would be allowed to vote. So, I don't know if this would solve much of anything, but I think it would resist the moral decay that comes with absolute freedom.

Was God present during the creation of the constitution? Absolutely! The problem we see today comes from the fact that Christians are doing nothing about the Moral Decay in society. The pulpits are bound by Government limitations because most churches think they are free but they are not free at all. Our I.R.S. does a very good job. The problem is that churches submit themselves to a 501c3 and bind there own legs, arms, and mouths.
There is nothing wrong with Government. The problem is that pastors do nothing about the moral issues. There is a seperation between Church and state. The saying goes, "As the church goes, so goes society." We turn our backs thinking that Jesus will come back again. The Jews thought Jesus was going to set up a Kingdom here on Earth. They were destroyed. This is not a smart doctrine and is not Biblical.

It is our fault that 1.5 million Babies die. We allow it. It is our fault that our Government does what it does or does not do. We allow it. For some reason people seem to think that a seperation between church and state means that the Church is to do nothing towards changing the way the state is running. Wrong.

It is our responsibilty to render a moral substance.
