  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I just got the September cd from White Horse Inn. Michael Horton is telling about John Calvin's response to a letter on a particular topic. Horton said Calvin's reply was...well...basically "your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries!" Yeah...Michael Horton quoted Monty Python!!

That's right...as in Simpson!! "D'oh!"

Oh. I didn't get it till you explained it. . .guess why they tell me that I'm really out of touch with American culture. ;)

However, I have heard their commercial clips where they have different public figures "promoting" the show (year right!) and it is absolutely hilarious! From Bill Clinton to Billy Graham. . .:D

Listening to the WHI is one of the highlights of my week. I got a kick out of the show a couple of weeks ago - Mike read a letter from a listener who was complimenting the show - he especially likes the old guy who speaks Latin. ^_^

We've been blessed to have Ken Jones speak at our church several times - I'll be sure and let everyone know when he's going to be there again - you'd be more than welcome.

That could be a good thing, y'know. ;)

For those who don't get WHI (I don't have any radio stations around here that carry the show...that's why I subscribed), it was great the way the Homer thing played out...I think Kim Riddlebarger mentioned Homer the Greek poet, and as soon as Kim said "Homer", Ken Jones let out a "D'oh!"

This afternoon on the way to town for some shopping (we live 30 miles from town), I got to listen to the next two in the Romans Revolution series, "Pursuing Faith in a 'Follow Your Heart' Culture" and "Has God Rejected His People?" Great stuff!!! The more I learn, the more it seems that covenant theology is truely the heart of Reformed theology. The '5-points' are indeed important, but everything seems to be tied into and centered upon a proper understanding of the covenants...including the way we conduct a sunday morning worship service. (And I feel my credo-baptism views trembling.)

For the uninitiated, said old guy is Rod Rosenbladt, the show's resident Lutheran and a really cool guy! If more Lutherans were like Rod, I'd be posting in Theologia Crucis right now. ;)

Thanks for the reminder, I have been meaning to subscribe. I also love Mars Hill Audio Journal (Ken Meyers).
