Hi
So you don't think that evolution is incompatible with christianity?
Evolution is compatible with Christianity, but not compatible with Creationism.

As an educated person, I think I'll quote Stanford for an accurate view of Creationism:

"Creationism in the sense used in this discussion is still very much a live phenomenon in American culture today — and in other parts of the world, like the Canadian West, to which it has been exported. Popularity does not imply truth. Scientifically Creationism is worthless, philosophically it is confused, and theologically it is blinkered beyond repair."

(Source: Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy - Creationism)

Its very possible for a person to believe in Christianity yet be an Old-Earth Evolutionist at the same time.

Light and dark is created - then he skips back to it a few days later almost as an afterthought to throw in the stars sun and moon to separate the light from dark - day from night.
Personally, Genesis is my favorite book of the bible (though I wouldnt bet a penny on it for historical or scientific accuracy).

When reading the bible, you have to give a lot of leeway to be convinced of its inerrancy.

Take this verse for example:
Genesis (KJV), Chapter 1

1:5 And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.
This is probably my favorite paradox in the bible. God creates day and night on the first day and then makes the stars and the two great lights (sun and moon) on the fourth day (Genesis 1:19). How can you have day and night on the first day without a star? To have a day, there must exist a rotating planet and a sun. These verses of Genesis proves that God (or more accurately, the authors of Genesis) could not have known about the structure of the universe, or even the difference between stars and planets.

I dont think it can be stressed enough how a literal interpretation of the bible leads to confusion... :D

The apostle Paul bases his theology on the fall of Adam/the redemption of Christ. If the genisis account is untrue, i.e. there was no Adam, then doesn't his theology fall apart?
Ok... let's start with the worst case scenario: that you're absolutely right.

So.... you'll just have to follow Christianity instead of Paulianity. I thought you already did?

Paul does hang a lot on an understanding of Genesis as the explaination of how sin entered the world, and why man needs to be forgiven for that sin. But does that mean that the whole song and dance about the two naked people, the magic garden, and the talking snake must be literally true or else Christ's message was meaningless? Does that even make sense?

Sometimes the answer your looking for is short and simple.
Simple things for minds that require such. If even you knew anything for sure and felt comfortable with it you would nto be here trying to convince yourself ,as well as, everyone else. No one knows for sure how human life came to be. If we did it would not be called religious faith.
