Well sparrows are a bird like a dove. The dove is the bird used to represent the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is God.

This is my main concern.
But I'm determined not to jump to conclusions.
It's easy to jump when your kids are involved.

I honestly don't know, but I just don't buy into that stuff. & why
is it ALWAYS with Charismatics?
Why don't we see this phenomenon with other denoms or non denoms?
Well lol, that's the funny part. The friend that they go with's mom is
a friend of mine and she's very conservative CRC, as are most ppl
around here. In fact, I asked her Sat at the soccer game if she knew
about this (her daughter is a youth leader there) and she said she
would check into it... but I almost got the feeling she thought i was
overly concerned... she just texted me n said that the youth leader
typed a paper for me to read Twill be interesing to see what she
says about this.
BTw, I"M the one who's supposedly "charismatic", and believe me
not all 'charismatics' are loonies.

Angels are spirits. Ministering spirits.
How could they have physical feathers?
Exactly.

Maybe a bird got caught in a ceiling fan and that was the source of the feathers.
CAnnot imagine another explaination... at least not one that I'm cool with.
Pastor's abroad but, bet he'd look at me odd if i told him this one ...
The gold dust bugs me more than the feathers even.
And doesnt it say that the streets are 'paved' with pure Gold?
What we pave with TAR, He paves with GOLD!
(But certainly there's not DUST in Heaven )

For that matter, why is it always Catholics (as far as I'm aware) that have the stigmata?
And I feel the same way about that as i do about this.
It just makes no sense... what's the 'purpose' of any of it?

well I have never heard of such a thing. I have never witnessed such a thing. I have never read in the scriptures of this so I would also be questioning this..

You betcha. Gotta be sober and vigilant..

It's nothing more than a stage trick just like most televangelists use. If you want to impress me, find me an evangelical church where they have a preserved 1600 year old corpse like we have in some of our Catholic churches

I've seen preserved corpses much much much older, that have no affliliation with any church group.

but that's irrelevant to the topic at hand.

do angels have feathers? I doubt it.

Something gets depicted in art, and people assume that's how they are.

there is no evidence that they have feathered wings, (or even all of them having wings at all!)

God is a God of miracles, so why would he do small, petty, "showmanship" miracles? I don't know that he's ever been on record of doing any such thing!

Just curious, but why do you believe there weren't any stigmatics in the church pre-schism? Francis of Assisi is the first known stigmatic, even according to the link you brought up...

Why do you think that???

*** edit:

I see why:

The RCC does not teach that there were not Stigmata before the big schism of 1054 (or what ever that date is).

I do not know why this Dr Imbert could only go back so far.

or why there was about 70 recorded from the 11th century to the 18th... and then 20 in the next century alone. (that's going from an average of 9 recorded stigmatics per century, to more than double as many per century as of the 19th.)

and none recorded prior to the 11th. Seems.... fishy.

Actually, I have never seen any source, Catholic or otherwise, that records any stigmatics prior to Francis of Assisi... (believe me, I've looked)

I'm sure you and I have differing opinions on Pio. I won't argue them with you.

No problem. I am sure that many who are not Catholic find stigmata to be not from God. I understand it too.

But one of my favorites from Pio was the little girl born without pupils who received vision after Pio prayed over her.

satan likes to produce material signs, carnal Christians love to see them.

We need to stick by what we have in our bibles, that is what The Holy Spirit will confirm to us with any experience.

Its very troubling to me.

I'm familiar with it. I'm just glad no one I'm close to is all goo-goo for it.

What is one to do with this?

"Oh great, God sent heavenly pigeons to our church tonight!"?

I mean, feathers?

Shouldn't a good ornathologist be able to ID the identity of the feathered creature from which one of these feathers came?

sorry to be so late in replying....

i can provide proof that not all miracles are directly from God. I work as a nurse on an psychiatric ward. On my ward is patient who is really into angels (but does not have any christian belief at all - its all pagan), but she says she regularly thanks her angels and often finds white feathers on the floor.

This can only lead to one conclusion... faith in Jesus Christ is not the determining factor for appearance of the miraculous.

Sheeze, that's very interseting.
It sounds kinda tricky but it's best not to say too much about things we have not expirienced nor trust.

They laughed hard at Noah

Let's be prayful to descern what this might mean.

The issue is why gold teeth? Personally, I'd rather have my original
tooth than a gold one!
:o

From what I see, God's miracles had a purpose/point. Something
that related... like they needed wine at the wedding, Jesus
made wine appear.
Would it serve well to have Jesus pass out a gold tooth when
they needed wine?

This is indeed quite true, and our church has the same experience as well.

Many of our monastics, priests, and church fathers speak of not seeking visions or miracles, because they can be deceptions. Plus the need to 'test' everything with a sober spirit, and to not fall into prelest (ie. delusion).

Sun, what kind of stuff is being preached at this place? if it is good christian doctrine, then it might be a miricle or it might be fake
but if you think what is being preached is not Christian, well then I would be a lot more sceptical

For that matter, why is it always Catholics (as far as I'm aware) that have the stigmata?
the stigmata is a reminder of what Jesus had to go through, it makes the World remember what it did to Him
Jesus only gives us good things, when a Catholic gets the stigmata there is a lot of time accusations that it is fake, but if a Protestant were to recive the gift of stigmata, well it is a good bet that most people in the Protestantism would not think it is real, so that kind of defeats the point, it is to remind Christians what Jesus went through, if such a sign would not do that, God will not give it to people thn
the Enlightenment, the 20th century
some horrible times, times in which the Lord was taken out of society, Stigmata is a reminder of Christ, in a culture where religion and Christ is seen everywhere, there is less need to be reminded of His Passion, when the world became more secular, God sent us more reminders of His Son
