why do you think it is that evangelical christianity over-emphasises going to heaven when we die at the expense of the resurrection of the dead... after all if we go to heaven when we die isn't the resurrection of our body somewhat superfluous.

Why is it at the expense of the resurrection of the dead?

The resurrection of our bodies is how we will reign with Christ in a new world... Jesus was the first of the resurrected and its that same power of resurrection that we receive today... not later in heaven. When Jesus returns we will receive incorruptible bodies... ?? Sorry but I'm a little uncertain what your question is... or was it supposed to be more of an opinion ?? Just not getting it...

God bless, andrea

Ehh, not realy understanding the question and Andrea I believe the uncorruptable bodies, is our spirit, so we will see through our spirit and so on, and physical bodies are corruptable but if your living in your spirit not tied down by the flesh, I believe its impossible for you to be corrupt as the flesh corrupts you, so why would Jesus give us physical bodies again? does flesh not corrupt? if we are not right now in the flesh, chances are we would not bei sinning, but our spirit is pure from the start, so Jesus can remove all the corruption from it, but not from the flesh, get what I am saying? I believe we will be in the spirit after the endtimes and not go back to physical but we may be able to interact with the physical when ever we want.. dunno.

“For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins” (1 Corinthians 15:16–17).
Yes we receive incorruptible bodies just as Jesus did. Recall how although they could touch Him, He could walk through walls etc etc... we will eat and we will not just hang out on clouds but walk the earth and much more that eye has not seen or ear heard....

It's good news compared to the thought of uncertainty and going to "purgatory" as many millions believe they will burn for their "temporal" punishment.

You could wonder why God would take those in Hell and raise up their bodies and then throw them in the fire. Must be a good reason. It must be much worse for those in that crowd and of course the devils who are on the earth now, setting up a fall for those who might get judged.

Those that are in the "everlasting chains" are being held for that day.

I used to wonder why getting even a glorified body back would be a good thing. I'd be wonderful in Heaven. I don't hold my own body in great wonder now. Why would I want it back, even in a better condition than before? What's the point of having this mansion in Heaven if you're back on the earth, in a place known to have iniquity enter into it?

Must be a good reason. Kat Kerr shed a whole bunch of light on that situation that makes me feel better about it. Being able to go back and forth to Heaven from the 1,000 year reign. Not needing air to breathe means new things in the water, and according to what God showed her, moving through space and visiting planets that are waiting to have something going on them

It makes me look at the moon in a whole different way.

There are millions of babies/children without parents in Heaven. Some growing quickly and others waiting to be raised. Those who want those (one that didn't cry and get into trouble).. Sounds interesting!

People raising their aborted and miscarried babies. It's nothing like what we might think and if God's in it, you know it's all good!

A good subject, well worth revisiting because so much value present in the knowing.

The resurrection is down the road a bit. Going to Heaven means meeting your departed relatives who received the Kingdom and the Lordship of Jesus Christ. People finally see their parents or their Grandparents. People lose children or babies. Old friends they've almost forgotten about are there. Not only are they there, but they're better than what they were before!

Your old relatives are now young and vibrant. They don't act like old ladies and men! Go surfing with them!

I was listening to a nurse on Youtube who visits with people before they go. She has almost no knowledge at all about doctrine. I really think her time is still coming with the Lord, but like so many in health care, they see how people die and try to comfort them.

Anyway her and this guy were talking about it and they say about 1 in 5 are really terrified at the prospect of dying. Many others approach it just like they lived their life; they think everything will be all right.

Anyway, some of these people would go and get revived and they were so blissful and with loved ones. They hated coming back. The wife's grandfather was the same way.

Is it not "far better" to go to Heaven right away than wait for the resurrection? Is not Heaven a wonderful place that exists right now, more real than things seem here? In Heaven, they see what's happening here and they cheer everyone on as they run the race. If the race is over, where is the exitement in seeing family members get saved, or knowing they're coming home and meeting you there. Heaven has an anticipation of your coming. They celebrate when you do the right thing. They miss us just like we miss them.

Is it really an "over-emphasis" to consider seeing God now and your families, and enjoying what He made for you to enjoy in Heaven rather than dismissing it and winning the prize with everyone all at the same time?

I want to share a little bit of Kat Kerr's testimony about what's going on and you judge it to see if it's something you could get into right away!

"But there are certain areas in Heaven where it does rain. They actually have a place. I've never really talked about it before. It's like the rainforests on this earth. It rains all of the time, but it's a delightful, wonderful rain. There are places that it snows in Heaven. One is called Christmas town. It snows all of the time. You can go play in the snow. It's kind of cold but you're never going to freeze. There are places like the mountains of spices, around your being it might be a little different temperature."

"But it's always perfect temperature in Heaven no matter where you are. It's always going to be a good thing. There's a little bit of rain or a beautiful snowfall. In your mansion some of the people don't even have roofs on them. Because you know what? You're not going to get flooded. You're not going to have mudslides. You're not going to have storms in Heaven, unless it's a spiritual, amazing experience. But your house is never going to experience anything against it, like rains not going to hurt anything. No mold, no mildew. Nothing ever rusts in Heaven. It's just beautiful everywhere you go. So the weather is always perfect in Heaven."

"But the sky in Heaven can be many different colors. I wouldn't say that there's one color all of the time everywhere.
Because I have been many places and seen many different colors. It's always daylight. There's no darkness like we have on this earth. There are times that are just waves after waves of beautiful colors going through the sky. Now the light also, there's not like a sun. Light comes from the glory of God. So it comes from the ground, the trees, the sky itself, and the colors passing through parts of the sky there... Some of it's like the fireworks that I talked about earlier. Just beams of light, explosions of light filled with colors we don't have on this earth. If you those kinds of things, you probably have them at your mansion all of the time.

He cares about what you care about. That’s why your pets go there. He said it is not a theological discussion. Don’t even try. He made them. If He feels like taking them to Heaven so you can enjoy them, He’s going to do it. And not only that, your pets talk!

He spends time with the little babies. He has little parties. Little tea parties with all of the little girl babies. And He sits in these little chairs in this beautiful nursery thing and they all have tea together, because He loves them. Those nurseries are embellished so beautifully. The babies beds are these beautiful mother-of-pearl seashells. I think Anne Geddes knew something… I see these beautiful mother-of-pearl beds. The babies are not sleeping. They’re climbing on them; swinging on them. Even little babies “this big” I’ve seen in Heaven. They sing, play, talk.

You’re not going to labor when you go to Heaven. You’re enjoying your life. Some of them have dining rooms that seat fifty people. Some I’ve seen seat a hundred people, because they like to entertain people. Sometimes it’s not just family members who come. And how do you let people know, that you’re going to have an event? You stand in your mansion and you announce it, and everyone you want to come hears it, and they come! And they’re never going to be late or stay to long…”

Everybody gets a secret garden. And whenever you want to be with Jesus, you have a key. You go in and lock it and He comes and spends time with you. Isn’t that precious? There’s a place the Father does the same thing with you. He wants to have alone time with you too.

“And so you’re having this amazing encounter with the Lord of glory, and all He is talking about is the Father. He can’t wait for you to meet the Father. Because of the love of God, you know, He came and died for us. And you see this amazing being, sitting on this throne. It would be the Father and the glory, waves of glory just coming out; so brilliant the colors, and you get closer and closer, and you think you’re going to melt into the steps. You feel the passion that He has for you, and the love that He has; these waves of love consuming your whole being. And you look into those rays of glory and you begin to see the outline of the Father’s face, and let me tell you, you do still cry right now in Heaven, but it’s a good thing. It’s the “undone” cry. It’s the amazed cry. It’s the joy that you feel. It does say that He’ll wipe away all tears, but that’s the end of everything; but that’s at the end of the Book of Revelation; that’s after the Millennial Reign; after the tribulation; after all that’s done, that’s when He wipes away any tears.”

(Sorry about the length.... uh, not!)
