Hello everyone.... As a long story would open this up quite well, I'll try not to bore you with a long story, so to sum it up lets get talking Youth Ministry.

Here's the long story short, I feel like I'm called to ministry, because that's the one thing I life I only have a passion for. I'm 16, and since I was saved last yr. Feb Christ, God, the Word is where my heart is.

I always think that if I was to goto college for engineering it'd be difficult, but to go for minstry would be a joy. It wouldn't be school and hours of studying, it'd be hours of enjoying God's wisdom, and to grow closer to Him.

That is kind of where I stand... I've always strived to go the farthest I can go, to reach for the highest if you will.
For my studies at my high school, this year I'll be taking quite a few AP (advance placement, equivlent to college classes), along with all honors and possibly an extra hour than most students (come in an hour early everyday).

When I look back at it, I never did pray when selecting my classes as much as I should have.... Perhaps letting you all know of my classes may help,
AP Lang, AP Calc BC, AP Euro History, Honors Physics, AP Physc... I cannot recall the other classes that I'll be taking.... I have most of my req. out of the way.

* My question is... is that all of this is seems like it's geared towards mathematics and science... but not ministry and social work... and I'm not sure where to go. I know God will give me wisdom, and direction of where to go, but I wouldn't mind some extra thoughts.

** Any classes that you'd recomend getting into for minstry? Perhaps some Youth Pastors could shed some insight on the types of classes they took.

hey man- I also feel led into the ministry.. especially the youth ministry.

I have a bit of advice for you. In my opinon, one most have scripture confirmation in order to be sure that is where God wants you. I mean... for a long time, I have wanted to go into the ministry... but that was just my emotions talking. I believe God puts specific people into the ministry... so I would ok it with God first. And the way God told me was through his scripture.

Second, because you've only been a christian for a short period of time, I might suggest taking a year off of college and going to a christian program for a year. There are year long programs where it's like college... but instead of college... you provide you an atmosphere where you can grow close to God and are allowed to solely study God's word for an entire year. It's just an idea. I hope I helped you in some way.

Take the most rigorous courseload you can take so that you are best prepared for wherever God calls you. God calls us all to ministry. Some of us will work in churches and some will not, but we can all minister. And don't lose sight of the fact that mission work needs engineers and doctors and farmers...

Not all youth ministry work will be full time or paid. You will have to be prepared to work in the world and be prepared to fulfill God's Will on a volunteer bases.

I think your classes are great, God knows what is to come, you might not feel it but perhaps He did guide you. I wouldn't worry too much.

One thing I can say is think of how many young people you can reach doing these classes. I think many people forget that you don't have to be a full time youth pastor to do youth ministry. If you find one kid in say, your physics class that is willing to listen and you are willing to minister to then God will see that and you will be blessed.

All the best with your classes!

- Pray hard -- be sure of your calling and ask God to confirm it in various ways in your life.
- You might want to consider seminary after an undergrad degree, though this is not necessarily for everyone. Becoming a faithful minister should be paired with hours and hours of heavy study of Scripture, experience in ministry, and faithfulness in whatever God has you do in the meantime before you 'become official' or whatnot. If God has a call on your life to be a Youth Minister, tell your youth pastor or someone in the church who can put you somewhere to work toward fuller-time ministry.
- A workman is worthy of his hire. Don't work for the purpose of becoming rich, but do work in the hopes of a possible future wife and family. It's important for a man of God to provide, and in his work of shepherding the people spiritually, the congregation needs to take care of them so that they can dedicate themselves to do so fully.
- Read through Scripture and keep track (probably write down/memorize/learn) of verses that really speak to you concerning ministry. Some good passages to study are 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1, for example.
- But most importantly, pray and study Scripture hard! Ministry is a targeted place, and Satan loves to try to tear you apart when you're serving the Lord. Keep faithful in whatever God has you do, and really pray concerning what He would have you do both part-time and full-time, as I'm sure you've been doing. :)

God bless ya, bro.
