Hi! I am new to this group and I am just looking for some advice and prayers from those with similar beliefs. It is hard to talk to others about ttc when I know that they are not Christian. They don't understand where I am coming from. Anyway, I was diagnosed with PCOS recently. I think I have had it a long time but it was masked by the pill until my husband and I decided to start ttc. I am cutting carbs and exercising and have lost some weight cuz I know that is supposed to help, but I am not obese in the first place (I am at the very high end of normal on BMI) so I don't know if this is going to do the trick. My OB/GYN wanted to start me on Clomid right away, but I wanted to do it naturally if possible. So, enough with the background...here is my issue: Should I try fertility drugs? How do you know when it is God's time or God's will for you to conceive? I am okay with waiting on Him to give me a baby (or never have one if that is His will), but I just want to know!!! Sometimes I think I feel at peace about trying the Clomid, but then I think maybe I should wait. And what if it doesn't work now, maybe it just isn't time yet and we should try next year? I know many of you must have gone through this initially and I was hoping you could shed some light. Thank you and my prayers are with all of you for healthy babies in your near future!

Hi Krimsonqueen, i'm waiting to be diagnosed properly with PCOS, it's just not official yet as i still need a scan to test, however all signs pointing to PCOS and like you its only really come to light because we're TTC.
I'm above normal BMI in the overweight section. It was mentioned that I should go on CLomid too, however at the moment i'm trying a vitamin called Agnus Castus, Vitex or Chasteberry. I've posted an article on ttcers unite forum if you want a look.
That's a natural remedy that may help balance hormones etc.

I don't think taking fertility drugs is wrong. PCOS has an effect on your insulin levels, it might be worth asking your Dr abotu metformin as that is a drug that is often given to ladies with PCOS and those with diabetes. From what I have heard from my friends who have used it and from my auntie who's a Dr it has a good success rate.

Clomid helps you O but you do need your hormone levels to be correct and like you i wanted to try and do as much as i could naturally and I also want to ask for metformin first before trying clomid if i have to move onto the drugs. I've cut out wheat and dairy in my diet, i take osteoguard, fish oil with omega3, multi vitamins along with folic acid, vitamin C, and the agnus castus.
Most drugs have side effects, altho people will all react differently, sometimes metformin can cause an upset tummy, likewise clomid can have effects too altho i'm uncertain what they are.

I don't know if you chart your cycles but it might be worth thinking about. It's really good when you're not regular to see what your body is doing and try and keep track. Try this site, i'm on a christian group within this as well would be happy to introduce you.

www.fertilityfriend.com
Someone on here suggested it to me and i find it is great, i've learned so much about my body and I can also print off the charts to show the Dr.

Don't give up hope, it can be hard but always desire YOUR baby and it WILL happen. I pray God blesses you with your miracle very soon.

Gracepaints:
Thank you for your opinion and the link. I am definitely going to check it out. I have had a hard time finding many people who try to deal with this naturally. Like you, I don't necessarily think that using fertility drugs are against God's will (I liken it to using all of the other medical advances that he has given us such as antibiotics etc), rather I question whether it is His will for me to conceive right now. I guess if it isn't, I won't! I think I just overthink everything!

Jillymac:
thank you for all of the info! It seems like we are in pretty much the same situation, except that the Dr. has actually confirmed what is going on with me. I will be praying for your health and that you are blessed soon with the baby you are hoping for.
By way of response: yes, I do track my BBT on fertilityfriend, but it doesn't show much is going on since I'm not ovulating! Like you said though, it helps you know what is going on. I didn't know that there was a Christian group within there, but I would be interested in checking it out.
I have considered Metformin b/c it gets at the underlying problem but I don't want to deal with the side effects (GI like you mentioned) unless I have to. I would like to do it naturally if possible so I have cut carbs as much as possible and been more on top of exercising. I am vegan, so I can only do so much as far as carbs go. Thank you for mentioning chaste berry, I have been wondering about that but I don't know anyone who has tried it. Is it okay to be on it if you get pregnant? Well, I will check out your article and see if all of that is mentioned.
I know that if it is God's will, I will conceive and deliver a healthy child! I just have trouble discerning His will when I make my decisions. I pray that in time I will get better at hearing Him, as I have only been saved a few years.
Anyway, it is great to talk to you...you keep up hope as well. Your child will be so blessed to have two parents who have given their lives to the Lord.
