  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Does anyone ever struggle with confusing your parents' thoughts and ideas with the Lord's? Is it hard to see God as being different from what you grew up with? If so, what do you do to separate that reality? Is it easy to take a manifestation of the Lord's personality (without fully understanding it), then afterward superimpose a human imbalance on Him, mistaking that perception for Him? Then what? The problem with these imbalances is that we don't realize they're wrong.

This is a good point. But for some it may be very painful. Especially if a person was abused by their parent...or others in authority.

I had a lot of verbal abuse as a child...it took me years to realize God was not MAD at me. I could "hear" just a small amount from His word...because I had learned to block out words and go "dead" to them emotionally.

Even the smallest portion of God's word and truth is effective to bringing life and peace. He has brought me a long, long way.

Exactly. And sometimes I think those memories become so engrained that it's hard to separate what really is God from what is abuse. That voice that continually runs through our minds that we think is God, but isn't at all.

I'm so sorry to hear that. The absolute worst is when they use scripture as a tool to abuse their kids. So hard to forget. :sigh:

I am so glad to hear it's better. That is a hard thing to separate and I'm glad God is giving you peace.
