This film really bothers me because every Christian that I know,would consider these kids UNDER the age of accountability! Even though the bible doesn't specify what that age is, I believe common-sense should tell us,it certainly is not age 5! How can anyone not feel this is "indoctrination", of these children? To hear the things that come out of their mouths and watch them,gives me the "Willies". There is NO WAY kids this age have the mental capacity to understand the concepts of what they are saying.They are parroting what they have been taught. No different than 5 year old Muslim school children, under radical Islam, being taught to say "I hate the Jews"!

A bit off topic, but this is also how I feel about the pledge of allegiance. All students should be able to write what it means in their own words before they are allowed to say it (if they even want to).

There's going to be a "Where are they now?" documentary on these kids, in about 15 years.

There'll be a few of them who are fiercely anti-conservative, and a few hard-core conservatives, and some in between.

I wonder if the press will be as free then as it is now. A documentary on these kids authorized by Reverend President will be a joke.

Not that documentaries are more truthful in a free society, they aren't, but they can be challenged. This documentary, Jesus Camp, is probably one part disturbing reality and one part paranoid enhancement. This whole controversy is a fascinating look at different cultures. We have to take the time to explain ourselves to each other.

Yes, I'm as disturbed as you are by footage of kids in cammies singing songs about culture war. But when Christians talk about "laying down your life" they arent talking about being a suicide bomber. It's a standard Christian reference to a peaceful, self-sacrificial way of life modeled on the Cross.

In mainstream Christian teaching, the world is a mission field and our job is to lovingly reach out with the Gospel. In cults, the world is an us-vs.-them battleground. From what I've seen, this movie is a picture of what NOT to do.

There's talk out in the blogoshpere and newsgroups about this being the roots of a new civil war. It sounds absurd, I know, but its remotely possible. As long as secularists keep pushing Christianity and evangelicals become more extreme, the danger increases of a conflict that extends beyond words.

i'm hopefully going to see this movie tomorrow. it opened around here (OK/TX/KS/MO) a week before it opens other places - and i hope to report back and tell you all what i thought about it.

preliminarily, though, i can tell you that what i've seen from the trailers and what i've read in the reviews is deeply disturbing, to me.

it's only been released in a few cities so far - in texas, oklahoma, kansas, and missouri. i believe it starts showing in other cities this weekend.

i'll hopefully be seeing it tomorrow.

I will definitely be watchin that movie.

I think its great to see kids on fire for God. With as much junk and trash that is thrown at them constantly and on a daily basis, I'd much rather see them following the Lord as opposed to following what the media/advertisers currently portray as "cool" and 'normal' anyday.

The Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazis still exist. These are extreme, I admit, but do you really think there aren't people in their own homes who express hate at Jews and other groups of people? They are smart enough, usually, to keep their mouths shut in public when they aren't sure if they have a "receptive" audience (well, not George Allen). These people also teach their children their beliefs. I know it happened with my grandfather, who was generally a good person except when it came to non-white, non-Christians, where he expressed deep prejudice. Luckily through education, compassion, and patience the cycle can be broken.

Ok, here is a modern day example of Christianity promoting hate towards jews - Radio Mariae in Poland! Also, orthodox Christians in Russia have strong anti-semitic views!

Well, in my post I did not define "many",which is my fault. This term is one of those nebulous ones in that it can mean anything to anyone. I would say that "many" in the way I meant it was that there are enough who are taught to hate that it is significant to be a serious concern to people who are possibly affected/harmed by that hate. If you were a Jew living in a town of 3000 people and, let's say 10 people verbally assaulted you. Would you just say it's a tiny insignificant minority, or would you think it just might go a bit deeper, and you have reason to fear your safety. Having lived in the south, I can guarantee you it does.

I'll give you a little less charged example. Today I taught a freshman class (first day of class) to prepare students to study abroad next February. There are 44 students in the class and 41 showed up. Now, this on first look seems like an insignificant number of absences. But in fact for those of us running the program it is "many", because if those three drop the course it could seriously affect the nature of the program in Canada, as the school in Canada has agreed to 4 classes of 11 students, but has said if it drops below that ratio, they will only have 3 classes. This of course would destroy the ratio.

So, you can see "many" is a relative term. Sorry for not fully defining it, but if you look back that was in no way your initial concern and you only seemed to bring it up after I addressed your initial questions.

Antisemitism. Critics say that the radio station crosses the line of xenophobia and antisemitism. Segments of many such radio broadcasts are ridiculed on satirical websites such as Emigranci. In one broadcast Radio Maryja listeners were informed that the Jewish people fled from Poland with all the Jewish gold and that Jews have a negative effect on the birth rate of the Polish people.

This radio station is VERY popular in Poland which is over 90% Catholic!
