The Founding Fathers, when they wrote the Constitution, were very much concerned with a concept called "The Tyranny of the Majority".
A concept, Souljah, that you should fear as much as any minority. Just because you are the majority today, doesn't mean you will always be. And if Christians become the minority in the United States, you will be frantically trying to keep the rights you deride now.

Well, I can't think of a better way to bring about persecution then to spend your time persecuting others.
Wouldn't you find it annoying if people kept trying to force their religion on your children? Through the government?

Caley: Given that the United States government is comprised pretty much solely of Christians (at least nominal ones), I'm not suprised you'd have no interest in marching.
You're represented. Offhand, given that the political goals of atheists diverge wildly, about the only thing that would bring them together would be the utter lack of recognition given to them by the US government as an actual group.
After all, we're the last group you can get away with insulting. Well, and in some places, gays.
Bush the Elder's comments during his Presidency on atheists (they probably aren't citizens and can't be patriots) as an excellent example.
Why do you need to be represented.

Well. That's a surprising question. Most people would learn the answer to that as children, when the basics of democracy are taught.
Perhaps you come from a country with a slightly different form of government?

Isn't that special? Well, to answer your question in a form you can accept:
Atheists, which are an indetifiable grouping of people, are at risk of having certain freedoms abridged. By demonstrating, they are hoping to point out to the politicians who pass laws, that abridging their freedoms isn't worth the cost in votes.
Kind of simple, huh? "Don't mess with our freedom, because we have enough people to make reelection difficult".
