"Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!
But He loves you."--George Carlin
He certainly wasn't talking about the God I know.George had a way of summing things up pretty well, didn't he?
Evidence please?
He certainly wasn't talking about the God I know.
The God I know doesn't send people to Hell for breaking any of the Ten Commandments.
If He did, we would all go there.
I like the fact that he laid that at "religion's" door though; as I contend that religion arises when facts in the Bible are misrepresented.
-_- no they wouldn't. In reality, however humans came to be, is what it is. While we do need evidence in order to support and find whatever the correct answer is, that answer is correct no matter what. Even if we never actually figure it out.
JustMadaz
Just doesn't do evidence, most times he simply rejects it.

What exactly is Godliness and can you tell me anyone who practices it? because Christians certainly don't,
Christians are the least Christ like people there are.
Again a flat statement that is a generalization and faulty reasoning.

Many believers have a different view of God than you AV.
Then they aren't believers in the God of the bible or Christ of the bible.
Or haven't bothered to read and try to understand God's words.
I somehow don't think that applies to Mr. Carlin. Many believers have a different view of God than you AV.
Oh he was a believer, he was brought up in catholic schools.
He certainly wasn't talking about the God I know.

Indeed. As I understand it, anything goes, as long as you believe. He certainly wasn't talking about the God I know.

What 'facts' are those?I like the fact that he laid that at "religion's" door though; as I contend that religion arises when facts in the Bible are misrepresented.
Yes.So are you saying that a Christian who has killed someone is more deserving of heaven than an atheist who works to better society?
There's your problem, isn't it?As I understand it, anything goes, as long as you believe.
