  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

God tests through trials. By allowing things to happen, or causing things to happen, that may cause you to be tempted to be angry with God, or question Him. The trials are always for good and for a purpose. The more trials you go through, the more you will come to trust God in more and more areas.

Satan wants to tempt you, but never for good reasons. He wants you to turn from God, to curse God and die, so to speak. He wants you to feel good about sinning, then feel guilty for having sinned.

Now, with that brief synopsis, God may use Satan to try you, but again, it's for your good.

I agree with Hammster. Even Jesus was tested but it is satan that does the tempting. God allows things into our lives to grow us...the book of Job is another good example how satan went before God to accuse Job, and God allowed him to tempt Job but not to take his life.

The Temptation of Jesus
Luke 4:1,2
4 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led
around by the Spirit in the wilderness 2 for forty days, being tempted by the devil.

One thing I love about this is that Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert, tempted by satan, and then when Jesus left the desert, in Luke 4:14 it says that Jesus returned to Galilee IN THE POWER OF THE HOLY SPIRIT !!! hallelujah !! When we come thru the storm to the other side we have power !!! Faith power, power of the HOLY SPIRIT !!! Thats exciting !!! HOLY GHOST POWER !!!

The temptation of Job
Job 1:8-12
8 The Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job? For there is no one like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, fearing God and turning away from evil.” 9 Then Satan answered the Lord, “Does Job fear God for nothing? 10 Have You not made a hedge about him and his house and all that he has, on every side? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land. 11 But put forth Your hand now and touch all that he has; he will surely curse You to Your face.” 12 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, all that he has is in your power, only do not put forth your hand on him.” So Satan departed from the presence of the Lord.

When Job made it thru his storm God blessed him with twice as much.

Travis,
Sometimes it is hard to know who is trying you... God or Satan. In my experience, if it sends me to my knees... God is testing me.... If it temps me to do wrong, then it is Satan. When it is from God, I will be able to thank him for all he has given me and ask his will to be done. Then I rise feeling calm and peaceful. If it is Satan, I want to scream, and curse and I get the "what the heck" mentality. That is when I know I need to fall on my knees and ask for help. when I rise I tell Satan to depart in the name of Jesus Christ ... and he leaves for awhile, but I know he will always be back. However, I know that God is in control and Satan will never win as long as I hold to
Christ's hand.

Dear travis97. God is Love and Compassion, and God`s eternal Law of Justice, we know it under: "What ye sow, ye will also reap," will give us
Blessings and fitting consequences at God`s own time. ( Galatians 6, verses 7-8) For those of us who sincerely Love God, it is God teaching us, and for the world at large, it is
fitting consequences. We notice that God`s Law often gives fitting reprisals and warnings. The devil does tempt and pretend and lie, never to be taken without serious praying and asking in " Jesus`s Name."
I say this with love, travis. Greetings from Emmy, your sister in Christ.
at God`s own times, when it is the right time.

When I do not know which is which or what to do, I will ask God to direct my steps or pray that God's will be done.

I think others have mentioned also, that God convicts and bring hope while the devil condemns. Its hard to tell at times, but then that's when we have to get down on our knees and cry out to God, hold on to Him and His promises. That He is faithful.
