It doesn't always pay to quote half verses. In full, this is what Jesus said.-
John17v17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy "word" is truth.

Jesus is talking of himself, not the bible/scriptures. He is talking about sanctifying them through himself because Jesus, not your bible, is the way the truth and the life.
If Jesus was talking about the bible he would use the word scriptures as you will find he does elsewhere.

Lets look at that word, "word".
John1v1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was in the beginning with God.

If Jesus was using "word" (Grk Logos) to refer to the "bible" in Jn17v17, then the same Grk Logos must also mean "bible" in Jn1v1".

Lets see how that works out?-
Jn1v1. In the beginning was the bible, and the bible was with God, and the bible was God.............
According to your reasoning, the bible is God.

Lets look a few verses further on
Jn1v14And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. And we beheld His glory, a glory as of an only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Did your bible become flesh at some stage, or does Logos perhaps refer to Jesus?

Do you get my drift?

I always struggled to believe others when they say they can hear God's voice and that He tells them things because I never experienced it. It finally happened to me and it was incredible. Have any of you heard from God?

Oh Wow, I just posted a new thread about Hearing His Voice! Hallelujah! It is incredible when you hear His voice for the 1st time.

I want to share this with you...in 1985 I was driving and listening to Christian praise and worship music and I heard God speak..."(my name), I want you to move to Tulsa." I replied I don't like Tulsa, but if this is what you want me to do then you will have to provide the way because I can't afford it. I know I need to be obedient so I will obey if you provide. That following Monday my boss called me into the office and informed me the company was going to open up an office in Tulsa and they wanted me to move there. I let them know I would but I couldn't "afford such a move" and the boss said the company will cover "All" expenses. So I moved. And God blessed me so much during those years.
So what is your thoughts to that?

I've had many similar experiences hearing God, and just like yours they were confirmed that, indeed, it was God.

When I pray and I hear a thought I stop praying and just listen for a bit....if I don't hear anything else I continue praying. But yes, as you said "I HEAR like a thought" so it is definitely worth paying attention to. Is there peace in your spirit along with the thought?

Yes, God interrupts your own thoughts with His thoughts. To know if it is God or not, would depend on discerning if it is true. During prayer, next time pray what He just said to you. That's what I do, and the prayer is answered immediately.

Years ago I was driving back from a meeting of prophetic businessmen and women.

It was dark and raining and I was doing about 60 along a country road which I knew like the back of my hand.​

I was behind a line of about 6 cars getting ready to overtake at a clear spot I knew was just ahead, when suddenly I heard the voice of the Lord, "Pull back, pull back, pull back!"

(So, according to the regular teaching of the doubters on this forum, I wisely got my bible out on the seat next to me to check make sure these words were somewhere hidden inside -before I did anything rash like heeding God....................and crashed into a tree and died!)

Knowing from long experience the voice of my Daddy God, my reaction was immediate. My foot came off the accelerator and covered the brake, letting the others pulled away from me. I knew I was in danger but hadn't a clue what.

All of a sudden, a huge black thing lunged over the hedge and landed on the bonnet of the car. I went into a skid as the beast was swept up over the screen and tossed off behind me. With my wife screaming in shock I managed to navigate back to my side of the road and stop.
Seeing my wife was unhurt, I quickly leapt out of the car to try and see what had happened. The offending beast was a completely black cow, now bellowing away as it struggled back to its feet and then ambled off down the road followed by the rest of the herd which had followed it through the hedge and barbed wire fence.

The front of the car was covered with mud and scratches stretching from one side to the other and over the roof. The window on passenger side was smashed when the wing mirror was swept back into it, covering my wife with broken glass.

Despite all this, I was deeply aware that the Lord had saved my life. Had I impacted with the cow at 60 or so mph. I suspect it would have come through the screen and killed us both.
I was also deeply aware that this was a demonic attack to kill us both, particularly so because of the ministry we were involved in.

The Lord showed me that a demon had been waiting behind that lead cow stationed the other side of the hedge, with a goad ready to prod it into action. That cow was the only all black one in a herd of black and white Friesian cattle.

Many good believers die because they are constantly told not to listen, constantly told that either God doesn't speak today, or if he does, he only does it through the bible.

If I had believed these false teachers, I would be dead.

Its time Christians woke up to the reality of Christ's desire that we listen and hear his voice as a normal part of life.
