God is working

Recently, as my trust in God has grown, so many things have begun to fall into place. Each day I have begun to see little things happening in my life that are only from God and I am so excited! I have been praying that he would lead my husband and I where He would want us and He is! It's so awesome!

My question is though, I want to do something for Him. I want to quit smoking and have prayed that God would help free me from this addiction but it is the one spot where I haven't heard Him. Has anyone else struggled with this? How did you stop smoking? I'm really so tired of it and despise it, but I still can't seem to stop. I want to be avaible to God completely and I don't feel that I can be if I'm still smoking.

Hi there,

Come on, think about what Jesus has suffered for you, can't you even do something relative small like quitting smoking in return? I have never smoked so I can't tell you how it is to stop. But my wife has smoked a LOT before I met her, and quit radically one moment (just after she was converted to Christ), and never touched a sigarette again. That's the way to do it my friend.
  1. Throw away your cigarettes
  2. Never buy any cigarettes again, nor have anyone buy them for you
  3. Never accept a cigarette from anyone anymore, not even a pull
  4. Set your mind on the things of heaven, instead of thinking about how desperate you are for another cigarette
[/list=1] Don't you know you are a temple of the Holy Spirit? Allright, quit now, I know you can do it!

Well, you have the privilage of receiving my first post here! (I could use some blessings - hint hint :)).

I noticed you mentioned accupuncture. A friend of mine did that and said it worked wonders, he was able to quit immediately. The only concern I had about accupuncture was he described (he is christian) a peaceful feeling, full of light when he had accupuncture. I guess I'm just worried about doing something like that and getting a feeling that may or may not be from God.
I'm still new in my faith and just want to make sure that whatever I do, gives glory to God.

acupuncture really works, i just read an article on it. Actually... i'm trying out acupuncture every week, for a problem that i've been having for many years, and the remedy seems to be working, but the results require a long term treatment. Being a chinese australian, i understand your concern, but i reckon acupuncture's better than medicine, which often includes many side effects. The thing is, you need to find one who has proper certificates in acupuncture, the doctor i go to studies both chinese and western medicine, and he's had years of experiences.

George, you're right that we don't need acupuncture for peace, God's given peace cannot be found in this world, but do you agree with Christians who believe that God'll heal their sickness, so they don't go to the doctor for common illness that can be treated with simple medication, and die as a result of it?

there's a simple that goes thus: during a flood, a man is stranded on the rooftop, he cries out for God to rescue him. A boat comes by to save him, he refuses, a helicopter flys by, he refuses. so.... he drowned, and when he's in heaven, he asks God why didn't God save him?

Blessed-one, no I don't agree with them at all. I believe God heals the sick (we are healed in the stripes of Jesus). But if this truth does not get manifested for some reason, one should go to a doctor. But not to receive an acupuncture treatment.
