• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Please don't quit on God. I believe the Bible says that the ungodly will prosper but eventually they will get justice. I don't think it says exactly those words though. Just please know that God really loves you and that we will be with Him always. I am really struggling but I know that God is with me and that it's all about Jesus as my personal Lord and Saviour. God bless you and Jesus is Lord.

The blessings that the ungodly get are for this world only. They won't be able to take them into eternity, and they won't count when they stand before God in the Judgment. But if you are a genuine believer in Christ then your treasure is being laid up in heaven and though you have difficulties and problems in the world, because you are not of the world, you have a lively hope that God has a future for you.

I am white, single, never married, tough luck going in, of Scottish descent, and at one time a very negative guy. In the 1990's our factory hired several VT football players who were all black and of Word of Faith doctrine. In all my years of knowing these guys I have never once heard the first negative word out of their mouth, everything they spoke was faith. They called me, "McCwowt" and would say things like...

"Do you know what over comes fear McCwowt? Action! Action overcomes fear"

"I'm getting out of here McCwowt" And then lay out some plan of escape. They would also come to me saying...

"What are you believing God for McCwowt?" And expect some great plan that would bring joy to their hearts.

They were also very schooled in the Word of Faith. If you had any pains at all they would offer to pray for you right then and there. They also broke me of my negative talk and for that I am eternally grateful. There is another thing they use to say...

"Good fellowship makes you strong."

If E = mc2 then we can divide and conclude that...

Mass (m) = Energy (E/c2)

And there are three varieties...

Natural E/c2 - All mass is basically cooled plasma
Mental E/c2 - Mentally, A mathematical formula, but this has chemical and spiritual properties as well.
Spiritual E/c2 - E (motivation, warmth, love) / c2 (faith, hope, charity, joy)

It is important to practice spirituality, in hopes, by some alchemy of spirit, that it becomes genuine. I would also say that faith and hope are free gifts available to all. You can sit down and imagine free of charge.

Faith in Christ + Spiritual E/c2 = A victorious Christian life that will bring God glory.

Tribulation works patience, and patience experience, and experience hope, and hope makes not ashamed. As you learn to resolve one problem after another, you will be an expert problem solver when others come to you with their problems!

Maybe it's best I quit on Him, as all I get in return is problem after problem.
Leave Him, and you leave the best friend you will ever have. Life is difficult, but God is good all the time. It's ok to be hurt, depressed and angry. "Cast your cares upon the Lord, because He cares for you." It's ok to sit at His feet. Then at the right time get back up.

Read Ps 73, about why the ungodly prosper. Then read Jesus' invitation to rest at Matthew 11.28ff, and the consolation of God at 2Cor 1 and 2. Then read Philippians 3 and 4, about the need to let go of things and embrace a positive attitude.

I think you know this, since you are a prayer warrior. But I say it only to remind you. May you be filled with the peace and comfort of the Holy Spirit.

He doesn't bless the ungodly with everything they want. The majority of ungodly people are chasing for more of what they want, and much of what they get for pleasure isn't from God.

Also, if God exists, it literally makes no sense to quit on him. He's still God and still calling the shots whether you obey or rebel. And you cannot manipulate him into doing what you want by quitting on him. Those that do, lose. Every time.

I have a few Words for you :)

"Though he slay me, yet will I trust him" - Job 13:15
"For I was envious at the foolish, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked" (Psalms 73:3)
"Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper?" Jeremiah 12:1
"Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass" Psalms 37:7

Perhaps you could read the Bible and stop doing the things that aren't quite as important. I don't believe certain things in the Bible are as important as others and most christians would agree with this. Scripture edifies scripture. Scripture does not contradict scripture. If you want a concise version of what i'm trying to say: don't be as awesome as you are currently (compromise). Ecclesiastes chapter 7 (7:16)

Jesus said to be as wise as a serpent and as gentle as a dove for he sends us out among wolves.

I'm sure i'll be flamed for using the English word "compromise" but there is such a thing as working to hard. Let me repeat that "there is such a thing as working too hard". Jesus gave up his ghost after the vinegar touched his lips on the cross because he knew he came close to breaking a vow he made on the passover feast. At the passover he promised not to drink wine until he reached heaven. Vinegar is a gray (key word gray) area. It does contain wine or alcohol in some cases but Jesus didn't want to take any chances. Some people should not drink alcohol (born again nazarites and bishops) and just take prescription medication. Everybody has a breaking point. We all need to set priorities.

No offense, but can you simplify this? While I appreciate your reply, it sounds a bit accusatory

Being a christian is not easy but remember we have Jesus. He suffered a lot for us on the cross and before He even went on the cross He was beaten, mocked, whipped. He did all of that for us because He loves us. God loves you

I empathize with your position. I was single for almost 40 years, married for almost nine years until my wife divorced me. And now I'm single again.... Although on average much happier now.

But the notion of quitting on God, I have definitely been there a few times in life. The inability to get ahead was the biggest trial I have had in life (having trouble breaking out of survival jobs).

I have actually benefited form some good Christian books, You-tube sermon videos etc. And you might try to bolster your faith. As hard as it sounds if you can see the problems in your life as a process that God is taking you through that will help you in the long run, that sort of thing will be the most beneficial to you. Also it will benefit you if you do your utmost to take make the most from whatever opportunities or blessings you do have, like the old saying about "If you have lemons make lemonade". Anyway here is a sermon that has helped me in my life.

I certainly didn't intend for it to sound accusatory against you. A simplified version is: Don't work so hard to be a good person (decent) as you are now. Rely more on Jesus Christ's grace. There is alot more to life than just suffering.

Now I understand clearly! Thank you, and my apologies for my rough tone
