Actually, this thread isn't about you or me, it is a discussion about the issue of whether God either evolved Himself over the ages of eternity, or that He was responsible for the evolution of the plants, insects, animals and mankind. I take a creationist viewpoint and other interesting folk here take the evolutionist view point. The discussion is interesting and takes directions like a men's Bible study I used to attend. We would start at the arranged topic point, but the discussion would go off in all sorts of interesting directions, and that made it fun and interesting. As long as the OP is happy with it, then there is nothing wrong with how this thread has evolved (hahahahahahahaha!).

But use it as a preaching and Bible banging platform to directly challenge or criticise individuals on the thread is not, in my mind. appropriate. We may not agree with each other's positions, but we must always have the utmost respect for others on the thread. I was making the point about Jesus being the truth, is that truth is more than just spouting religious jargon or even taking our favourite theological position, but it is conducting ourselves the way Jesus would toward everyone, whether they agree with us or not. That, to me, is standing for the truth. I am not perfect at it, and that is why I am subject to correction when the need arises.

I know that this is a little off topic, but you made the statement about Jesus and I am responding to it by way of appropriate discussion.

I am familiar with the bulk, possibly all, of what you have written here. I don't wish to respond fully and thereby take the thread even more off topic - though such a discussion would be more rewarding than the way the thread's moving at the moment. I'll just make two brief points. I carefully used the phrase "just possibly" to convey the low probability that Jesus of the Gospels was a composite character, though I understand some scholars have expressed this view. Secondly, not all the facts you present are as well validated as you suggest. Perhaps we can take this up on another thread at another time. Thank you for the effort you put into assembling the information.

Jesus was speaking of Himself, not us. Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8).

That's fair enough. After all, we are talking about events that happened 2000 years ago and there is not a lot of comment outside of Christian literature.

HE didn’t evolve as the topic and author of this thread is trying to imply.

GOD revealed HIMSELF

When HE did, it didn’t mean HE evolved

It simply meant that HE chose to reveal HIMSELF to HIS creation but was there from the beginning

Try implying that you are the beginning and the ending to understand that this indeed is a claim that HE is GOD and when HE says I am the first and the last, the beginning and the end, it isn’t to tell us that somehow HE was created and had a beginning and will have an end
