So if you can't except that than your not going to get the answer your looking for most likely.
There is such a thing as 'exegesis'. (Explaining what the Bible verses, written many centuries ago, mean in normal up-to-date terminology). The Bible isn't going to give you any clear answers without some serious interpretation.
Davis said:I mean your basically asking for us christians to explain God without using Gods Word.
No. I am asking them to show that they have a clue what God's word mean. In school when you are asked to write something "in your own words" it isn't because the original text was bad, but because writing it in different words proves you have understood it and shows how you have interpreted it.
Davis said:Moses received the Law from God and we too have the law written on our hearts because of Jesus Christ. He is our source. There is no other source but God. I pray that someday God will open up and put the truth plainly in front of your eyes. May God Bless you.
Unless you are talking about the ten commandments, the pentateuch wasn't written by Moses. For a start it describes his death and that is a hard thing to write oneself.
Besides, I have already explained that I am not suggesting that you ignore the Bible, but that you recognise the variety of interpretations people can reach by pretending the Bible verses speak for themselves. Hitler believed the Bible was the word of God - remember? I don't think any of us would accept that he understood scripture no matter how many verses he decided to quote at us.
Davis said:I suggest reading the last couple chapters of Job. Its pretty powerful. God basically shows us that He is far and above more powerfull then we are and that we can even imagine.
Well he doesn't exactly 'show' it does he? He just dogmatically states it. To be honest, the last thing Job was doubting was God's power. The point of the end of Job is that Job cannot hope to understand God. I don't think you have ever told me that God is beyond my comprehension and that I should therefore give up any attempt at understanding God. After all, that is surely a sign that I should be an atheist?
Now - any answers to the question of what counts as a "follower of Jesus"? It's not an easy question to answer. (After all if you decide someone who "worships God and accepts Christ as their saviour" is the answer, then some further explanation is required to prevent a certain European dictator becoming a candidate.)
