Most people know Daniel as the guy in the Bible who survived the lions’ den. Some who are a little more knowledgeable know him as the one who survived a fiery furnace along with three others. Those who are familiar with the Bible know that Daniel is a prophet in the Old Testament who had visions of things to come.

These visions amount to a catharsis involving a reinventing of who is to have dominion of the earth. One vision in Daniel 7:2-8, tells of four winds who stir up four beasts from the sea, with the fourth beast being stronger than the rest. And out of the fourth beast came a little horn who had eyes like a man, and a mouth who spoke great things.

Another vision, in Daniel 7:13-14, tells of one “like a son of man” who appears among clouds out of heaven and “to him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom, that all peoples, nations, and languages should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom one that shall not be destroyed.”

Jesus in Matthew 16:13-20 says that he’s the son of man, and he “will build [his] church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it,” and he “will give...the keys of the kingdom of heaven.”

Did Lord Jesus make his appearance according to the chronology expressed in Daniel’s visions? If so, then the four beasts have already been stirred up, it seems. Were at least three of these beasts meant to wreak havoc on the earth? Seems there is enough havoc on the earth without the beasts!

It also seems that it will take time before the church spoken of by Jesus will be built to the point where the evil that is n the earth is non-existent.

But whatever happens from hereon in, whatever is to take place that changes the world by things good and bad as the Bible tells us will take place that hasn’t taken place already, we have some solace in Romans 8:28 which says “... for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Most people know Daniel as the guy in the Bible who survived the lions’ den.

They overlook that he refused to follow local law and so women and children had to die to cover that sin. Among the worst kinds of death that the Bible offers. And it offers a few options.

23 The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den. And when Daniel was lifted from the den, no wound was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

24 At the king’s command, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought in and thrown into the lions’ den, along with their wives and children. And before they reached the floor of the den, the lions overpowered them and crushed all their bones.

It was more like those wicked God had ordained to be destroyed, along with their offspring, so as to not populate the earth later with their wickedness. This was one of the definitions of being cut off back in Old Testament times, as shown with Jezebel, a pagan idolatress, and her husband Ahab, king of Israel.
