  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Which should a person do foremost towards understanding Earth's origin and history: turn to God or to Science?

Which one of the above holds the Key that unlocks Reality?

Does mankind need to know God and His Ways first or can they by-pass such and through scientific enquiry understand the Reality of Earth's past?

If they by-pass God to know about Earth's history do they make geologic science an idol?

Does a person first need to learn of God's Ways before concluding what they learned from geologic science?

Does the Bible clearly present Scriptures of at least one of God's Ways of Creating? Scriptures plain to understand of at least one of His Creative Ways?

Does the Bible present that God has used Apparent-Embedded Age when Creating complex objects?

The Bible is always true, though sometimes it speaks figuratively. Science is good, though never complete. You'll have to explain that thing to me about "Apparent-Embedded Age when Creating complex objects."

It is one of the purposes of this thread to explain the title. But other question are presented.

Which should a person do foremost towards understanding Earth's origin and history: turn to God or to Science?
Many Christians do both. They turn to God for their salvation and science for knowledge of the material world.

Which one of the above holds the Key that unlocks Reality?
Perhaps more than one key is required.

Does mankind need to know God and His Ways first or can they by-pass such and through scientific enquiry understand the Reality of Earth's past?
It is not necessary to bybass God in order understand the Earth's past through scientific inquiry.

If they by-pass God to know about Earth's history do they make geologic science an idol?
That's up to them; they need not.

Does a person first need to learn of God's Ways before concluding what they learned from geologic science?
No.

Does the Bible clearly present Scriptures of at least one of God's Ways of Creating? Scriptures plain to understand of at least one of His Creative Ways?
No. The Bible is about something else.

Does the Bible present that God has used Apparent-Embedded Age when Creating complex objects?
No.

What puzzles many is why God would create a world (or indeed, an entire universe), not just with apparent age, but with apparent history. Billions of years of historical evidence of events that never happened, of fossilized creatures that never lived, of multiple lines of evidence of billions of years of evolution by natural selection that never happened, and all reflected in the present state of the universe right down to our cells, our DNA, and the very atoms we're made of.

Why fake it all?

No. The Bible is about something else.
When a person has truely turned to God they are born again by the Holy Spirit. Those led by Him are His children.

Yes, turning to God is quite different than turning to science. The Spirit leads and teaches. Science is only a methodology.

This sounds like step one to me. Learning through the Spirit, particularly the illuminating of verses in the Bible brings a foundation about this life and world, including Earth history. He leads the children of God. Not doctrine or findings through methodologies.

Yes, "fake" is not His Ways. Look again at OP.

Nothing has been faked. Men have been looking for an alternative to Creation for thousands of years. Now they think they have one based on "science."

Just because certain men think or want to think billions of years have passed changes nothing. It is your own world view that has changed, not the truth.

I've always taken it literally - he just created her. He can do things like that, you know.

Assuming that the purpose of God's word in Genesis to give us an accurate literal history of the material world. That's not my assumption.

When you use the expression, "Apparent-Embedded Age when Creating complex objects," are you referring to the fact that the Lord could create a world that, geologically, appears to be billions of years old, when in fact, it is brand-new?

I was a lost person when taking paleontology, historical geology, etc. It was a man-dominated, human brain attained knowledge presented to learn and view the world by.

But the Holy Spirit had plans to make me open to a Creator. With open intensions and heart the Holy Spirit led me to Jesus, and soon thereafter baptism by the Holy Spirit.

Verses from the Bible started to glow within me by the Holy Spirit. A new way of learning begain. And has not stopped leading and teaching!

More than Genesis, but starting in Genesis.

For example, Eve is a clear example of Created with Apparent-Embedded Age.

That's all good if it brings you closer to Christ, but it really is not necessary to reject science to get there.

More than Genesis, but starting in Genesis.

So? That really is a negligible aspect of the story.

Yes Sir!

Are you Spirit filled?

Has mankind found any transitional fossils of the billions recovered?

It is not rejecting science. It is God's Ways to learn and God's Ways to Create that are foremost!

Well, you would have to define "transitional fossils" for me. It was science fiction author Isaac Asimov who wrote that the Lord could create a world that appeared to be billions of years old. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ.
