God ALWAYS answers Prayer - Yes, NO or wait

Here is another one of those "Christian" catch phrases in the church. What do you think? Is "yes, no" or "wait" the common type of prayer answers we should continually expect from God?

What percentage of our prayers are answered with a "yes?"

What percentage of our prayers are answered with a "wait?" For those who have been answered with a "wait" how long did you have to wait? Did you ever get what you "waited" for?

What are the Scriptural basis for your claims? I have mine which I will add momentarily. Let's discuss this.

Personally, I think God has a lot more to say to us than yes, no, or wait. The key is in listening. We can break everything down into yes, no, or wait but as far as God's answers, I think we need to listen. If we do, we might be surprised by the magnitude of the answer.

As a friend is fond of saying, "just a thought, for what it's worth."

What about "If" conditional answers to a request?

I don't think that the statistics are the important issue. It is the types of prayers that are answered or not.

"Lord give me the winning answers to the lottery" No! It won't do you any good.

"Lord give me the peace and strength to deal with situation X" Yes. But it may still be difficult, but you will grow.

"Lord please help me find a new job!" Wait. And please listen some more while I tell you what sort of job I would like you to do.

"Lord help me become more Christ like" Yes... if you pick up your cross and follow me.

God has a tough job filling all those requests; it requires a lot of logistics. God is the altimate traffic cop, making sure every request can be fitted together. Just remember if he answers your prayer with a yes right now at this moment in time, he may undo someone else prayer request.

Here is a verse from the KJV that answers your question......
Matthew:21:22: And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.


This says to me, That whatever you ask for in prayer and have faith and entertain no doubts, Your prayers are answered.

If you are gonna use a verse like that, then add the whole thing.

II Corinthians:7: And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure.
8: For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.
9: And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

I think this tells a better story, When we are our weakest, In Christ we are our strongest.

True, But , Here is the whole verse.
I Corinthians Chap 10 Verse 13:
There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
This says to me that if we are tempted beyond our own control, That we are to call on God and he will help us thru.

Well, this is kinda the way I think. . .

Jesus said, "if you abide in Me and My words abide in you, ask what you will and it will be done unto you". So my thinking is, that as long as all that abiding is happening then it is impossible for us to ask for something that is not in His will. And then there is another scripture that says, "all the promises of God are yes and amen". . . no "no's", "maybe's", or "wait's".

Now that said, it does not mean that I've never had to wait, but I've never heard God say wait. . .I just waited and thanked Him for what I knew at some point would manifest. And have I heard Him tell me "no"? Umm!! Yes! And it was because I was asking outside of His will which if I had been abiding and His word abiding in me. . .I would not have asked in the first place.

So, if we cannot believe that we receive, ie, God says "yes" to our request, then there is little point in praying and asking becos it will not be a prayer of faith.

Personally I was always told that God would answer my prayer in His own time, But this is something I heard in a service that I always remembered...

There are 4 definite answers to prayer:-

1 Definite answers to prayer
2 Delayed answers to prayer
3 Different answers to prayer
4 Denied answers to prayer

" If the request is wrong God says No,
If the timings wrong God says Slow,
If you are wrong God says Grow,
If the request is right God says Go." (reference 1 John 5:14)

This is something I have always remembered, thought I would share it with you.

Since when are we only suppose to pray when we want something from God. God wants us to have a relationship with him. I would have a very poor relationship with my husband if I only spoke to him when I wanted something.

As to the verse you reference, I have been battling with that verse in dealing with the issue of poverty in our lives. I have learned two very important things,
1. What are the desires of your heart. When we are alone with God the almighty, not the father God, not the friend God, but the great I AM God, what is left in our heart. When we stand before Him, all of our worldly desires are stipped away and what is left is the desire of our hearts. It is way to easy to confuse what we want with the desires of our heart.
(My 4 year old keeps interupting me, hopefully I am making sense)
2. What is really meant by believing or by faith. Heb. 11 gives us a very wonderful look at what faith is yet, Matt. 7:1-10 gives us an image of a man of faith that makes me wonder if I have any faith at all.

Perhaps the Disciples and Apostles prayers were answered possitively so often because they knew the right things to pray for. I think we need to listed first.
