  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Allah is arabic for God, its the same thing. Though like with the Jewish view of him, its just different from the way we see him.
Hebrews 2:9
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way

Hebrews 1:1-3
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

They do not believe in the same God, because they do not believe in the TRIUNE God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. How can they believe in the same God, if they do not believe that Jesus is the Savior.
Philippians 3:18-19
(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

They're deceived about God, though they call on his name.
Acts 4:1-12
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

The main difference is not in scripture, but in the way we live out our religion. Muslims are known as God's deputees, Christians are the living, Earthly organisms of the Christ. We are his earthly hands and feet because Christ operates THROUGH us, not WITH us. The other main difference is that Muslims believe Jesus was a prophet and teacher, but not the savior of mankind.

The God of Islam (Allah) is a despotic tyrant that can cast you into Hell for the slightest offense, or if he's just in a bad mood. Islam literally means submission and it's a religion that believes you can earn your way into Paradise.

The Christian God is a god of love and we recognize that nothing we do will earn our salvation, it truly is a gift of grace.

Allah is also One, not a trinity. The biggest sin in Islam is to commit Shirk. Christians and Muslims do not worship the same God and I really wish people would quit spreading this false information around.

Shirk (Arabic: شرك‎) is the Islamic concept of the sin of polytheism specifically, but in a more general way refers to worshipping other than Allah, associating partners with him, giving his characteristics to others beside him, or not believing in his characteristics. Within Islam, Major Shirk is an unforgivable sin.Acording to Islamic texts, anyone who commits shirk cannot be forgiven allah forgives any sin except for major shirk.
My personal view is that Islam represent oppression while Christianity is liberation.

Two Muslim mothers are sitting in the cafe chatting over a pint of goat's milk. The older of the moms pulls out her bag and starts flipping through pictures and reminiscing. This is my oldest son, Mohammed. He would be 24 now."

The other mom replies, "I remember him as a baby."

Mom says, "He's a martyr now."

"Oh, so sad my dear."

Mom flips to another picture. "And this is my second son, Kalid. He would be 21."

"Oh I remember him. He had such curly hair when he was born."

Mom sighs, "He's a martyr, too."

"Oh gracious me," says the second mother.

"And this is my third son. My beautiful Ahmed! He would be 18," Mom whispers.

"Yes," says her friend enthusiastically, "I remember when he first started school.

"He's a martyr also," Mom says, with tears in her eyes.

After a pause and a deep sigh, the second Muslim mother looks wistfully at the photos and says, "They blow up so fast, don't they?"

I'd agree to a great extent with ya, Blackknight. The god Muslims represent to us seems to be much the same as the moralistic god Paul represents as Israel misunderstood as the real God.

There're bare smatterings of connections between Christianity and Islam. The idea of God as a Person, as Someone Who intends to relate specially with His people as family, of the entire idea of grace leading to forgiveness through love ... I've captivated Muslim friends with these Christian concepts of God. The character of God is way, way off, and fatally so.
