How does McDonalds target individuals with weight problems? I'm not challenging you, I just want to know.nyj said:If McDonalds knows that their food is not as healthy as it could be, and it purposely targets individuals with weight problems, then yes, they share a portion of the guilt IMO.
DreamTheater said:Do grocery stores share some of the guilt with those who are gluttonous? What about farmers?
People have got to eat to live. Nobody needs the pill.

It wouldn't even fit in my cup holder in my car.nyj said:Oh, quit exaggerating... it's only 44 ounces.![]()
Interesting. Is this a fact or are you just using this as a hypothetical example?nyj said:When you say you sell health food, but your health food (salad with dressing) contains more grams of fat than your Big Mac, you're not being honest with your consumers. So, an obese person, familar with McDonalds thinks: Hey, I'll have a salad, it's healthy... and by consequence, they eat two times as many grams of fat in that salad than if they'd just eaten the Big Mac.

Jamme said:Correct.
A good salad dressing is made with 4/5 olive oil
However... we all know this... and it's written plain and simple in the leaflets in the McDonalds restaurants.
I did not know that...nyj said:That's a fact. Their ranch dressing salad (if you use the ranch dressing that comes with it, and who wouldn't) contains 51 grams of fat. The Big Mac has 34. (Ok, not double, but close... a bit of an exaggeration on my part).
Their Chicken Ceasar Salad has 18 grams of fat. Their cheeseburger has 11.

I'm not a health expert at all, but I thnk there's a lot more to a food being healthy than the amount of fat.
I'm not going to argue with this. Your the biologist, I'm the kid who barely pulled off a C in high school Biology.nyj said:High fat diets can cause lots of problems. They are a direct link to heart disease, and studies have shown that high fat diets may also contribute to alzheimers too. So, while fat may not be the only consideration in a diet, it does have a major impact on quality of life.
Jamme said:Fat is essential in any diet.
It only causes a problem when taken in excess and has a detrimental effect on health.
