As I already pointed out, the attached was highly unusual as well, much more so than the recent cold spell. But, it's the WEATHER, it can be unusual at any given moment in time.

The irony, of course, is that climatologists use ice cores from the 2 mile thick Antarctic ice shield precisely because it has not melted in over 500,000 years.

How is it unexpected for ice to not melt on the Antarctic ice shield when it hasn't done so for 500,000 years over 8 glacial cycles? Same applies for the ice cores from Greenland.

What most people are saying is what is in comport with the science:

stratospheric cooling due to ozone depletion has changed weather patterns in the Antarctic and Southern Ocean causing changing patterns of SEA ICE being pushed around.

In addition MELTING of glaciers in Antarctica is resulting in changing mixing dynamics between the FRESH and SALT water further altering currents in the area.

So in fact the fact that the experts were unable to PREDICT that the SEA ICE would raft in around them MIGHT be an indicator that the SCIENCE BEHIND GLOBAL CLIMATE IMPACTS DUE TO HUMAN ACTIVITIES is pretty solid.

But that's pretty complex (it took more than 1 sentence to say it) so folks like Mach can't be expected to follow it. Folks like Mach don't even appear to know the difference between ice that is ON LAND and ice that is IN THE SEA.

If someone can't understand the difference between land and ocean it is almost guaranteed they won't be able to follow actual SCIENCE!
