  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

BHSMTE, note how the WARMING stories are never trumpeted by our "skeptic" friends.

The sad part is they don't even come close to understand how silly their approach at CHERRY PICKING makes their position.

Couple that with the fact that no one with even a MODICUM of science thinks that any one given weather pattern (warm OR cold) in any one place means jack to this debate.

The reason I like to respond to this silliness is in hopes that this sort of anti-science ignorance won't spread to others.

Clearly NHE and Mach have not even an inkling of basic science let alone how graphs or data works, so they are like it says in Proverbs 26:11

(The Bible really does help us understand people sometimes! Words of wisdom. If only wisdom were "valued" anymore.)

I understand fully where this reaction comes from, it is very transparent for anyone who has the ability to observe.

So lets see; if Chicago doesn't have any murders for a few days, that would mean the murder rate issue was false correct?

If a major league baseball team is in first place in September and is 30 games over .500, but they lose 3 straight games, does that mean winning all those games in April, May, June, July and August are now meaningless and the team now sucks?

I just get a kick out of the methods used to convince oneself that their ideology is still intact.

Only if it is the Cubs.

Then show us some indication that you do! Honestly! I would WELCOME any indication from EITHER of you that you guys "get" what noise on a graph means or that local =/= global.

Laugh all you want but I HONESTLY have never seen any indication that you have an idea of what "noise" in data looks like.

You keep posting these "one single data point" threads that don't mean a thing!

If you tried this sort of thing in a science class (even a high school science class) your teacher would set you aside and teach you that real data has noise!

This is really, really simple stuff!

In all seriousness, I responded commensurately to the criticism ... with all due respect.

Well, Nighthawkeye, you have never respondeded to the original point which I raised quite some time ago when I saw one of your earlier "single data point" type threads.

WHY would you bother posting information about ONE event in ONE AREA as if it were in any way related to global warming????

You see, it would be as irrational as someone here posting a picture of a hot, hot day in France and saying "Seeeeeee! Global warming is real!"

NEITHER is right! A single data point high or low is just NOISE and doesn't give any information about the trend!

That's ALWAYS been the point! ALWAYS.

Yet you keep posting threads about "oh it's cold in Duluth!" etc.

And then people like Mach who doesn't even begin to know anything but what he reads on the intarwebs feels emboldened to make similarly baseless points as well.

The reason I take you to task over this simple, simple, simple concept is because you don't seem to "get" it.

This is data around a best-fit line:
400px-Linear_regression.svg.png

What YOU are doing is focusing on ONE POINT and saying "THE TREND ISN'T RIGHT!"

graph.jpg

Imagine if you focused ONLY ON the one point here. What would you know about the TREND?

NOTHING. NOT. A. THING.

Yet that is EXACTLY what all these pointless threads are like!!!

What would the teacher of your civics class say if you continually delved into science in his class?

If I came into class spouting stuff that indicated I had no earthly idea what the US Constitution was you can BET that I'd be called to task.

So, it's the same thing.

YOU wanna talk about how fake global warming is? Fine! You better learn the SCIENCE first.

Because so far every post you make showing your ignorance of the BASIC SCIENCE behind this makes any point you want to make about the POLICY IMPLICATIONS exactly meaningless.

What would the teacher of your civics class say if you told her that you watched a person for 5 minutes one day, and no one violated their constitutional rights. Therefore, it is impossible that anyone has ever had their constitutional rights violated.
